Yokomo GT-4 Thread

Almost all the nice stuff is functional and you'll probably want to upgrade to it sooner or later. If you have the money now, I'd say get the upgraded version now. If not, $100 is a great deal if the car is new or in great condition. Then you can upgrade it slowly. It will cost more in the long run. Trust me, I have a GT-4R that started life as a GT-4W and I've spent way more than if I had gotten it all at once. Then again, they didn't have the "R", "Pro" or "S" when I got mine.

Hey guys. I am back. After quite some time off I am full swing again. I am heading to Duram, NC for the ROAR Regional and I cant seem to get a hold of the Yok Centax. Will the Mugen 4 shoe centax work on my car? I have the shoe type 2 speed if that makes a difference.

I know when Smitty did the first shoe-type gearbox for the Yokomo he experimented with a couple of Centax clutches. I cant remember whether he used the Mugen Centax or the Kawahara Centax but one of them fitted. It wasnt 100% though.

Just wondering if you guys have already tried the new high response pulley set? If not, I would like to share with you guys that is a MUST get!!!!!!!!!!!!
The car takes off the line like... like... SUPER FAST!!!
Trust me on this one guys...you won't regret it.

I know he used the Serpent/Neo Gearbox and clutch but when he made his own 2-speed he tried either a Mugen or Kawahara Centax as the Serpent/Neo units didnt mesh with the Yokomo spurs.

Hey Ballpy and Tambok. Go to page 5 of this thread and read my first post on it. It clearly states that the Mugen Centax with the new 2-speed works but Smitty did end up getting the Serpent one to mesh and work.
Kawahara also brought out one at the same time which worked with it too.
You should be ok with that Mugen one Ballpy
