Default Stop & Go Penalty

Just wanted to clear something real quick...

What happens if you get a Stop and Go on the same lap your pitman has called you to refuel??

Do you refuel and get the stop and go at the end of the pitlane??

Or do you refuel and get the stop and go at the next lap??

You can NOT do ANY work during a stop and go. So if you need fuel on the lap they call you in, you will have to get fuel, go back out, then come in for the stop and go on the next lap.

I must say Michael Schumacher had a fantastic action some years ago. 3 laps before the end he did get a stop and go and by the rules must do that within 3 laps. In the final lap he did enter the pits where he finished the race and after the finish line he did his stop and go just right on time.

The FIA needed some time to figure this out if it was legal

Thanks for the quick response, wingracer.

Is this rule written in any rule book?? (ROAR, IFMAR, EFRA)?? I tried looking in the ROAR and IFMAR book but didn't find it.

Don't know but it's pretty standard in ALL forms of auto racing big and small. It would make no sense to allow work on the car during a stop and go as then the penalty is reduced to almost nothing.

Nope, like Wingracer said. You have to pit, then do the stop and go on a different lap.

I like the idea of a stop and go, we usually just get a drive through penalty which there is no speed limit, so in fact you could drive through at race pace

Usually for pit road violations such as not bringing the car behind the wall for refueling. Also for rough driving, jump starts, things like that.
