Just ran the Mongoose in the region II championships and finished 4th. I was really happy with the car and it proved to be pretty durable. I'm still working on getting the clutch right, but I should have it down by the next race.

Just a side note there were five different manufacturers at the top of the A, 1st Mugen, 2nd Serpent, 3rd Kyosho, 4th Mongoose, 5th R40.

I heard quite a few guys got DSM'ed at the Odonnell race. My friend noticed that the DSM were glitching whenever the train came by. Did you notice that as well?

I did not notice.............I was so mad I could not see straight at the time.

Interesting theory however.

My "Dsm" products will be going in the trash. I won't even waste my time sending them in to get quote, "fixed". I could never trust it again at this point.

Practically everyone has had problems on the on-road track with the Spektrums. I've already had mine sent in, and returned, and it's still glitchy. It's not the trains. It seems okay in my buggy. An unnamed source (that we both mutually know, Brad) who runs for Horizon and Losi told me they don't work well in on-road nitro, yet. He said it's not as noticeable in offroad. My glitching was very subtle- I was blaming my car. To double check, I then put my system in Chris Verano's car and it did some nice 90 deg. turns into the boards! Sorry Chris!! I'm running analog Airtronics servos, and Chris had one digital servo and one analog.

I have two DSM receivers, one with a delay problem (the one that came with the transmitter) and another I purchased separately. That one ran great at the track. I run on-road and had no problem. The one with problems, I only ran in front of my house and was getting delays in front of my neighbor's house. I immediately sent it in to Horizon for the fix. I spoke with the DSM tech at Horizon and he told me some of the units are having problems with wireless networks. According to him the firmware upgrade has fixed the problem.

I still kept my Futaba HRS receivers - just in case the DSM start flaking out.

It's funny, I haven't had any problems with my DSM, but I know people who have had nothing but problems. It seems like its pretty much hit or miss.

I run Spektrums (with my KO Helios) on my onroad and offroad cars. And here at SV Speedway, they work fine. A friend of mine said that everyone was having problems with their Spektrums at Revelation last weekend and they were glitching while the trains were running by (which is no more than a block from the track). Whether this is just a mere coincidence or if say if something on the train was causing the problems (maybe the train was using some kind of FHSS or DSM or wireless network thing that could have affected @ 2.4ghz)...who knows.

Jabroni Quote (Motorman,

Any word on the steering set up you had been working on a while back ????)

We finally got to test it last weekend in Racine. It works better than I ever imagined it would. RayJ also drove the car and said it felt and drove the same as his car with the swing rack steering. A plus was I could run less ackerman than him and have as much steering so even more steering than I used is possible. I am making the tooling for the parts now and should have the retrofit kits ready in about a month. I'm not sure how much their going to cost yet as there are quite a few parts including new tie rods. Initially the kits will only be available from me. We will start selling them when we have 50 made. I still want to test the production parts one more time as I'm beefing them up a little more. I want them to be bulletproof. Time to put the steering durability issue to bed on the g4 platform forever. The kit will require you to drill and countersink 1 new hole in the bottom of the chassis to hold the lower bearing bracket in place

RayJ and I have a few more special go fast parts we are working on.

I have no pictures available at this time.

well done motorman!
do continue to keep us all updated on your progress.

good to see a company taking a pro-active interest in this car instead of relying on customers to provide feedbacks.

The trouble with my DSM is when I turn the receiver on the servos twitches. And when I hold the transmitter near or above the car and gas it there seems to be a delay. Move the transmitter away, no problems

Motorman,

Was RayJ running the white goose? It looked pretty good all weekend. Looked like it got pretty loose in the main though. Tires go away?
Will you guys be at the Detroit MWS?

has anyone had problems with the clutch bell breaking. I have gone through three and the problem is starting to get annoying and expensive.

breaking? you mean after driving the car, the clutchbell is cracked??

i have never seen that happen...

unless it breaks while you are trying to tighten the screw, then you've got the spacing wrong.
