The dogbones are super, go with those. The K-Factory universals that's available for the G4 is too weak, they don't survive more than a few tanks before they snap in the coupling..
btw, the last tank is always when the car breaks, dont drive that last tank!

Default Universals

Team Magic has new universals for the front that are stronger in the area where they used to break....I have about 2 gallons on mine.

also .. cable-tie the dogbones to the arms so that you won't lose them should they pop out

Yes, the new stronger universal from K-Factory (K1488) is better than the original. You can also use the Lola conversion lower bumper from K1486 and trim them to the foam for better front end protection.

By the way, from the look of your picture I think you put the pivot ball nut in wrong direction, please check again.

The pivot ball nut is the silver one on the steering block. Try to unscrew them and see if they're placed in wrong direction.

the screw is in backwards......the concave portion goes towards the ball and the flat portion goes towards the outside of the wheel.

Sparx hit it right on the money i went thru this same issue yesterday @ a race & lost the universal & same issue when I was racing a serpent 710. switched to dog bones & never had a problem again. for universalas when getting much steering to make the car more aggressive puts strain on the universal which caused them to snap even quicker.
Here is also a ? I went with the box set up for the mongoose but 4mm caster seemed a little funky so i put it in nuetral position & for rear camber that rear was very loose what recommendations if anyone has on the rear caster setting.

Well you could say I got "DSM'ed" Brand new DSM decided to stick full throttle during warm-up for the main and broke the rear shock tower in the process. It also did it in 2 of my six qualifiers as well That is why my best qual times were in the heat of the day. My car was really good and and I had good power as well. Next time. I heard the "Honda" race was going to be in Torrance weekend after the 4th of July and I am trying to get details on it from Glen Williams. Bill and I are planning on going.
Later,
Brad

(i just used the base setup from the box) ...

The STS D3R engine its fantastic and a good match with the STS pipe ... AFM did a great job on modifying on the engine ...

Welll the sad part was on the last tank i run today (just the last before the lunch) ... i hit a inside part of a board (made of sand bags with nylon material over it) and my front left tire got stuck ... the result, a broken universal ... so i need alternatives on :

- Buying a better universal (Kyosho ones work well ?).
- Buying the old fashion axle and dogbone pair (i love them since my experience with them its fantastic).

This is a pic of the part :

anyone help me here please ...

Thanks !!!

cya !

Get team kyosho universals if you can get them. They are really hard and I've been using mine for almost 2 years without any trouble

Good reply XTREMERCHOBBIES... I'm using the Kyosho universals in the front and K-factory's in the rear.. Less chance of damage there then in the front... YBSLOW... I heard Glen talking about the Honda race a couple of weeks ago.. I was going to race at the local club race this weekend but I might race at the Honda race if the surface if suitible for racing... The local club race is giving away a MRX4 to the winner of compition at the end of July at Crystal park... If you hear anything else about the Honda race, please pass it along or PM me.. Thanks
