i am running the mongoose. but i have modified it somewhat. moved battery pack to where G4S is, reciever is where battery used to be. and now have completed the G4S steering instalment. each change i have made has been improving the car, but due to modifications, some teathing problems which have been sorted out now. the best improvement made is the steering alone. no belt rubbing issues at all, and an increase in akerman gives the car a whole lot smoother feel and improved steering. unfortunately looks like its gonna rain this round, but i have managed some track time to test and setup the car after these mods. very stable now. but yes i could have baught a G4S, but i had invested in 2 mongooses, so i had to make the most of what i have.

I think someone is selling his G4S for USD 310 on here , you might want to check it out.

Monggose is alright, 2 of my friend drive monggose and have not much complaint of it. I switch to G4S just because the bling bling stuff

PS: I prefer silver Alu part over blue

i resized the hole in the chasis, countersunk it, and i use the 3racing graphite front top bulkhead brace, i machined the hole out (depth) for the post, and tapered it to fit the top of the taper on the tube. fits quite nice, but did have a problem with the l/h ball conector touching the oneway pulley, but i have sorted that out with some grinding.

what are good upgrades for the mongoose? Is it good out of the box?

I will be purchasing one soon. Does it already include tires, and wheels?
What will I need to complete besides motor, exhuast, and electronics?

sounds good.

Will this connector work?

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LX0958&P=7

Any tips on holding the cells together? Do you guys use battery bars to solder batteries together? Last of all any of you use heat shrink to wrap all cells?

Superglue batts together first and then you can solder ends together using some high strand wire and the batt wire in kink above.
Put shrink wrap on batts and if you like fill open ends with some silicone sealant to prevent moisture or fuel going into pack.
This works for me.

Don't use that, get the one for Servo, that one you've shown is way too short. use this one:

personally I don't use Superglue, ShoeGoo is good enough and more vibration resistant.

Remember to shrink wrap it

Below is a picture of What I did. it is soldered using RadioShack Desoldering Braid (spell checlk please )

it is hard to say which body is THE BEST,
just see what people use in your place. it seems like Stratus 3.1 are quite popular out there
