Default TM G4S RTR VS G4JR

Hi

I am new here, my girlfriend is going to purchase me an R/C car for my birthday and i am looking at these two cars as i believe these are some of the best RTR on the market.

I am a little confused cause i know the G4S is an older model, but it is more expensive then the later G4JR.

Team Magic have told me the G4S RTR comes with extra option parts then the the G4JR, but said to purchase the G4JR as it is a later model. But i don't know what performance difference the narrow chassis will make or what other difference there is?

I appreciate any thoughts and feedback.

If you are into Team Magic, go for G4 RS 09. It has all the option parts needed to become competitive. The G4 JS is very much like the G4 JR except the followings.

G4 JS Car Kit: Centax Clutch, 6061 chassis, Aluminum radio plate, Composite shock stays

G4 JR RTR with Engine and Radio: As above with 3 shoe Clutch instead

Thanks for your reply, i am after a ready to run car rather then a kit as then i will to spend more money on the radio and engine to get it running and this is harder to justify to the Mrs....

Can any one assist with G4S RTR vs G4JR though?

Hi Mr Poo

I had the G4S RTR and the G4JS.
If you are looking about a RTR car, go with the G4S. As the G4JR has plastic rigid on the steering turnbuckles I would take the G4S.
I was very impressed about the power of the engine and the quality in of the car in general.
If you want some suggestions about the set up do not hesitate to contact me.

Have fun and happy birthday!

TM G4 RS 09 is the current model
eccentric belt tensioner

TM G4+Evo is based on the G4 RS 08
Ball bearing rear belt tensioner
Comes with many option parts from K Factory
A car of its own. Cannot compare with anything else in terms of workmanship.
Although the design is not the latest, its still very competitive. After all its based on the European Champion G4S.

They are both good cars but I reckon the G4+Evo is more durable.

Thank you for your reply, you have been very helpful. My birthday isn't for a few weeks, but thanks for the best wishes:P

Do you still have your G4JS?

The narrower chassis has a different bulkhead and shock tower mount, the arms and other components are inter-changable. You can run overhead torsion sway bars and flying wing arms on the JR and the G4S would have lower mounted blade.

Both are comparable cars and access to parts is the main decider. Im assuming you've considered chargers, starter boxes and a good tool kit.

One thing to note is whether the G4S uses wood screws or hex. If it does, then a refit of screws is advised if you want the JR

Hi Mr_Poo

Good to see someone else looking at joining the Team Magic brigade. I have quite a few Team Magic cars which include a G4JR and a G4JS...

The G4JR mainly features as below :
-Front & Rear quick release bulkhead design
-Front & Rear gear differential
-High grade alum. chassis and radio plate
-Narrow chassis
-Flying wing suspension arm

Basically , the G4JR is newly mold and modified from G4S RTR.

G4S RTR include some optional parts with the car. For example : Alum pulley
, polish manifold pipe..etc

Hope this is a little more helpful for you!

Andrew

Harry:

G4S RTR looks to have "Wood Screws" the same as the G4JR and the G4JS

Hi Mr Poo

The G4JS I do not have any more.
I had the G4RS 08, the G4JS, the G4S RTR and the G4+.
Now I'm running the current model, the G4RS II. And I must say, it's very fast, reliable and the quality is very good.
But in your case, also when the G4JR is the newer one, I would go with the
G4S RTR. Alsor spare parts are still on stock at RCSh....ing.
When I went with my G4S RTR on the track, other guys laughed about that.
But I could them beaten all.....and they were running Kyosho RRR, NT1 with high powered engines like OS, Picco and so on.
