I'm looking to get an Argus A52 or Alpha A872 for my 1/7 DM-1..
I tested my Go GXR 5-port briefly last week before the spur-gears got eaten, and it was ripping... Nice performance. I think a 7-port Go or Alpha would be the ticket. I just want the Argus cuz it's cheaper and a lot of people seem to be really raving about it.. (Think it's more a 5-port grunty truggy engine though..)

Give a chance to the new GXII-HO 5 port line of engines, more low torque, little more rpm's very linear ... im sold to 7 ports but after testing the new GXII-HO 5 ports .21 on my buggy, im planning to install it on my GT now ...

Troy gets a gum-band and a propeller only... LOL
Troy... get the motor from Richard and be done with it... 120 bucks used and you know it will rip... its a buggy motor that he cant use in his 1/8 scale....
you have all the servos and electrics. keep in mind your going to rip the radio out; and change the servos from the RTR!...
The RTR's are going to be great for the first time nitro guy.. REMEMBER... you are running 2 or more classes.... build reliable and efficient
IMO
Cheers,

Hey guys,
We are starting a new class in the Northwest for the GT's. We want a low cost nitro car for the "New to Nitro" guy/gal to enjoy...A farm class for the other 1/8 nitro class, if you will.
SO....here’s our basic rules..
1. 1/8 scale GT type cars, RTR are fine, even if a .28, pull start only.
a) We recommend .21/ 3 port motors, easy to tune and inexpensive.
2. Sweep Tires 45/50...this may change due to availability, but Sweep has been very good to us as a club.
3. Clutch modification are allowed
4. Brake modifications are allowed
5. 5 min Qualifiers with 30 min mains.
6. Racer must be able to laugh and have fun, whining and bitching is not allowed and you will be DNF’ed
Easy Cheesy!!!
If you want to share setups with us and advice, we would love to hear your input. Please share photos and Video.. and enjoy!
If you want to sell you products great, but if you start causing problems, and create a problem for other vendors, leave. We are here to have fun..bench race and share stories and information about a Hobby/Sport that we love..
Cheers,
Clete

Anybody run a Werks B6 in their GT? I want an engine for my 1/7 DM-1 that will also make a good buggy engine.. Keep going between Argus, Alpha and co. on the one hand, and maybe a Werks on the other..(would require ordering from the States..) Seems near impossible to find consensus of what the ideal engine for these GT cars is.. I know I don't want a 28(even though I have a new Losi 454 sealed up, clutched, and ready to go..) cuz of the fuel consumption. I also want a screaming top end..
Also, in the main GT thread, somebody recommended getting a Kyosho clutch-bell with Evolva pinions, in order to be able to run normal-size clutch bearings(I don't like the .5x.8 bearings in the stock Ofna DM-1 CB) Anyway, I ordered and received the right parts, and the Kyosho CB looks really thin - as in I don't think it'll cover the shoes on my new Ascendancy clutch.. Will it?

definately you need to put in a no CF chassis rule or a min weight rule. I don't know how much a bone stock kyosho gt1, GT2 car weighs in at but the ofna dm1spec weighs in at 8.3lbs out of the box. Its ridiculous what people are doing to lighten their cars and should be made pointless by a min weight rule.

Clete the unofficial GT1 ambassador.......
you will run an INS if we tell ya too that's a track owner directive for noise, not a performance thingy.....
Enjoy boy's. we will also have more tires instock next week...

Tires.... Grab me a set of 45 Mark... I want to try a set...
Guys... Should we make a rule that all four corners have to be the same shore?
Only reason would be cost... remember... this is an Economy class too.
