Default clutch

I'm just getting into nitro onroad from offroad and I was wondering what the deal is with the 2d, 3d and 4d clutches. The evo wc comes with a 3d clutch and one of the guys at my local track says the 2d clutch is the ticket for the sirio engine, can any of you explain the difference?

Most of the Kyosho onroads use the 3d clutch (they have been since I've been in the hobby). I've not seen the 2d clutch, but I have seen the 4d clutch. The big difference is the number and size(weight) of the flyweights. The 3d has 3 flyweights, the 4d has 4 smaller(lighter) flyweights. The lighter the flyweight, the more slip your clutch will have thus a later engagement (higher in the powerband).

I would stick with the 3d that comes with the car and tune from there.

You tried the 2D clutch? The new 2D is suppose to be the latest and greatest.

Default tuning for qualifiers and finals

hi guys
congrats to all those that ran at the winternats i cant wait for an oppurtunity to come to the states and race at florida.

i wanted to ask a question..when you have the perfect setup for a 5 minute heat with say small tires 60/62..what changes do you guys make for the final?

do you just put on bigger tires for say a 20minute final on a track with high tire wear? do you then change ride height/droop or just tires?

thanks
John
