Hi! I'm trying to decide which fuel to run the next season, the candidates are:

1. Sidewinder

Highs: Can be bought in a local store, my friends will use it, good effect.

Lows: I've heard that this fuel makes the main bearing wear much faster, is that true?

2. O'Donnel fuel

Highs: Seems to have good effect, looks like it doesn't wear to much.

Lows: I'll have to order it, but if I order 2 gallons per order it shouldn't be any bigger problem..


Anyone who can help me decide?

can you get byron or mugen fuel I have run just about every fuel O'donnel left resedue in engine sidewinder was great but didn't like the stain on the inside of engine found I like byron fuel is a 11% OIL MUGEN IS SAME FUEL with 10% oil. I have had very good results with it.

I have no possibillities to get Byron or mugen fuel.. They are'nt availible here in sweden.. But sidewinder works fine? Maybe it would be better with after run oil?

Sidewinder is made by Morgan Fuels, and for many years I flew airplanes and would use nothing else besides Morgan's "Cool Power" brand, If I can't use Byron's in my car, I use Sidewinder.

OK, so going with sidewinder won't kill my engine too much then?

I have run sidewinder 30% all season in my sedan and I haven't had any problems. I don't really like the red stain, but I can live with it. I used to run O'Donnel but I thought it left way too much oil all over my car. But it ran well also.

mcsquish: Since you've ran both of the fuels I'm trying to choose, which do you think wears less of those two? Since I'm not racing very seriously yet I want something that doesn't wear my engine too much..

Out here in Las Vegas, we refer to sidewinder as rustwinder. If you can get O'donnell, do yourself a favor and get it. It is a proven fuel with many years to back it up.

Any fuel will cause rust if you don't burn out the left over fuel when you are finished for the day.
I run sidewinder and have no rust problems at all. I make sure to run out all the fuel at the end of the day and don't bother with afterrun. I've let engines set for months at a time between runs with no problems.
If you can get the World Championship Blend 30% fuel you won't be disappointed.
Nothing wrong with O'Donnell fuel either , but there is no magic fuel that prevents rust if you don't burn off the residual fuel at the end of the day..including O'Donnell.

As far as parts wearing, I'm not sure. I'm almost through my second gallon and haven't seen any problems, I still have good compression. I don't use afterrun oil, I just run out the fuel at the end of the day. Hope this helps.
