Default New Radios?

I was reading in one of the car mags a while ago about a radio that did not need crystals. It worked similiar to an ip address. where the transmitter and reciver when turned on search each other out and only talk to each other. Does anyone know anything about this?

a radio without crystals, i'm assuming thats a synthesized radio, where you can select different frequencies that are programed into the radio/receiver. Theres a new nomadio radio that has like a 2 way "talk back" radio to receiver system, you might wanna look into that if thats what you mean. hope this helps

Default Nomadio

The nonadio is supposed to be even better than the synthesized systems of today. It looks cool, however it seems to provide alot of needlass info. IMHO

well, at the moment they may look useless. But in the near future these radios would work like the pi systems in F1..providing drivers with engine temp, rpm, lap times... suspension adjustability even....the list goes on...
Kind of scary what it can go up to...unless someone puts a limit on how much radio-car communication can be had...

If we can eventually get that kind of telemtery from our radios, I hope they make some kind of portable display for the pit-man. What good is that information to the driver if you cant look at the screen at the same time that you're driving?
