r40 kit...how much it worth?

About a month ago, I purchased an HPI R40 kit...
I never even opened the box though...I started college, and simply havnt had the cash/time to mess with it anymore...
it is brand new, the box is even still in the plastic wrap, never opened, and since I dont have much time I was thinking of selling it, but only if I get a decent amount of my money back (since it is brand spankin new).
what would this be worth?
Its not really for sale yet, I just wanna know what I could get out of it...but offers are welcome.

thanks guys
pedro

Well as long as HPI's "factory seal" sticker is still in place, you could sell it at new price. Which is around $259 at most places. But if you want to move it quicker, drop that by about 10 bucks and sell it at $249 shipped.

It'll also make it move quicker if you show a picture of the boxed still factory sealed.

Good luck.

for $249, I can get the Kyosho RRR here in Japan.

There have been unopened kits for sale on the for sale forum going for $220 with no bites. Unfortunately, it's not a very popular kit even though it is a good car.

I'm a little curios as to why the car is wrapped in plastic...since they don't come that way from HPI USA..(in fact,my 2 2004 japan editions didn't come that way either...

I'm not sure but I know some of my LHS shrink wrap alot of their inventory that doesn't come wrapped. I guess just as an added step for security....?

pedro_sandchez 09-02-2004 08:12 PM

yeah, got it from the local hobby town...maybe they shrink wrapped it themselves?
I dont know...I just never opened it because after buying it I was unsure if I was going to build it or not, so I was going to wait until I got other stuff for it before I opened it...

You better sell it before newer version comes out which is in about 10 days. otherwise even at $200 it'll be hard to sell....

fordman500 09-04-2004 09:36 PM

Whats the new version?

The 2004 R40 kit has been out for quite some time, it is not new.

pedro_sandchez 09-05-2004 07:57 AM

so since I've only had it for around a month, mine should be the 2004 edition correct?

so there is no newer model coming out soon?
if not, then I dont guess I should be in a big hurry to sell it...
