Default Best .12 motor for under $350

I am looking at upgrading my motor and I got a pretty straight forward budget for it. I am looking for something in the $350 and under range. I am looking for something thats fairly consistant where I wouldn't have to be tweaking on the needle all day long. I have been looking at a few like the OS 12XZ, Sirio XXXV, NovaRossi 353 Race 12/c, and the RB Concepts Touring 10. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Jason Smith, That is the first time I have seen one of those for under $400. So thanks very much.

Serpernt-Dan, Also a very good recommendation.

you might be able to get novarossi flash .12 for just about $350 these days. Try rcmarket.com.hk or even some places they have for about that price.

The Sirio XXXV kit
http://www.rc-mushroom.com/product_i...ducts_id=20023

$345 with pipe and header. Thats a really good price, for a really awesome engine. I've been running it for a while now and i love it.

Default team c evo4 .12 picco edo mods w/ pipe and header

tcmodels.net have evo4 picco mods for 269.00 with pipe and header not bad for a mod motor. I ran the evo4 and they are alot better and last longer than the evo 3..... just my 2 cents

DuVulcha, is that budget just on an engine alone, or for the whole thing?
If the whole thing, I would go the Sirio XXXV, or if you can find a Nova 353/Flash 12 combo for the price you are looking for, I believe RCMart has a 353 deal for around that price including a pipe.

Team Kamikazee, thanks I'll check it out

Shakespear, Its just on the motor. I am now leaning towards the OS12ZX Spec II at RC Mushroom. hard to argue with 1.75 HP and a crazy bandwith. I have not seen it for that cheap anywhere also. Not even close.

BMain57, I like it, but not sure it would be competitve enough for the circuit down here in TX.

Sonsa, Looks like a pretty good deal.

Spar9368, I found it for the high 300's in a few places. But still looking.

The power manufacturers say are rubbish, its what they have according to them. Every manufacturer states their powers, but all of them are almost the same and sit somewhere close to the 1HP mark.
From what Ive heard they are good engines and are very capable in the right hands, but the power of the European engines (Max Power, Novarossi, RB etc) are just unbeatable in terms of parts quality, longevity and power.
Not to say that the rest are crap, its just I've heard the OS engines just don't quite run with with the Nova's.

Stick with nova or nova base engines, easy to tune, holds a tune and very good reliability

Shakespear, and rias5037, I been looking at race results over the last few years and I dont see a lot of OS engines in the mains let alone podiums. I know a lot of the podiums and mains have as much to do with sponsorship as it does skills but somewhere equipment has to come into play. Probably the reason you dont see a Traxxas on road race team (that was a joke). Now I already got my car set up since I changed some things (V One RRR WC, Savox Low Pro High Speed ST, Hitech High Torque TH, Spektrum S3000 RX, 3PK TX, RD Logics Tuned Pipe, and Bocca Ceramic Bearings.) Right now I am running a Novarossi M12 (its a little older of course, thus the need for a new motor) and it doesnt quite have the punch I need to stay in front of the pack.

to be honest with you, ive had them all, os, picco, and novarossi. novarossi (even the nova based ones i had and have like maxpower and rb) was by far the easiest to tune and held a good tune throughout the day, once i had the engine tuned in the morning, i barely touched the needles again for the rest of the day. personally, i would go for a novaossi with an 11.5 crank for the pure reason that the novarossi 07601 conrod fits basically all the .12 11.5 crank novarossi's out there, so when you need to change the rod, its not that pricey to do.

ive seen some JP's on ebay at good prices, ebay item number 390160297264, this one for $278 excl shipping, JP GIMAR Racing Typhoon3 IFMAR/EFRA .12.

My personal opinion, go for novarossi based engine or a novarossi, you wont look back.

BTW, i ran a standard .12 C Race at our last club meeting, TQ'd the A's and was running against Picco DS4's and nova flash tuned, its not about the engines horsepower and speed, its about the engines reliablity and ability to get you to to the end of the race.

I have a JP Eagle, 353 modded, and have run the RB's as well. I used to be a OS hater, but since I have run the xz spec 2, I can honestly say that not only is it the easiest modded motor I have ever run to tune, but is also all around fastest. More bottom than the JP with comparable top end, and super smooth.

No I don't work for OS...LOL I just happen to like this motor that much!!

The only negative I would give this engine is that the pinch comes ultra tight from the factory, and you must be very patient with break in. I would say it took 35-40 tanks before the engine really woke up....so if you get one be patient.
