I paid a whole lot of money for the this motor. I have emailed JP looking for an answer but wanted to tell everyone to check the motors for a similar deception.

It looks like the modded engine. JP had a situation with the .21 buggy engine. People bought the FX05 (or whatever the y were called) thinking they were modified engines but it turned out there were just JP's version of the P5. No different from Rex, Top or Nova. Then there is the "modified" version that comes with the black case and modded internals for much more. From what I understand JP has stopped producing the non-modded buggy engine because there was so much confusion. Since your engine does have the black casing, I would assume it is the "modded" version but who knows. I've been told the Mugen X12 is as fast (if not faster) for less money.

I know how you feel. Happened to me once, but not from JP; hence, since then I always inpect my engine prior breaking it in.

can you contact the store where you bought it from and have them help you?

i'm just trying to think of ways to help. i belive it would benefit us all to learn what/how to solve this kinda problem if it were resurface to any of us.

Where did you buy the engine from ? Was it purchased through a hobbyshop or through a person ? Who ever sold you the engine probably switched out the piston/sleeve/rod and replaced it with a used JP unit. I don't think JP wouldn't ever let an engine get passed him without inspection and quality control. Most hobbyshops have access to pre-packing items for thier inventory. And if the seal wasn't ripped, it was probably taken off with a heat gun so they can re-use the seal. That really sucks man. Have you gotten in contact with whomever you bought the JP from ? I hate to see this happen.
