Another thing you mentioned that interests me is the body placement. How much farther forward can it mounted before you stop seeing positive results? Some protoform body pictures showing some of you good results would be nice.

If I get a chance, I will post some bodies for you.
I have a lot of bodies.
Between the 10th scale and 1/8 scale bodies, I probably have close to thirty in all.
With the Mazda 6, Nemisis,Stratus,DNA in the 10th scale, and the Protoform,Mugen Whip,Kyosho Dome, in 1/8 scale, I have bodies hanging on clothes hangers in my shop.<just WAY too many it seems, but I use them all.

He has won Many championships, and even the Master race a couple of times, and is excellent with his set ups on 10th and 1/8 scale.
At first I thought the same thing "4" toe in on the rear?
But he showed me that even though if you scrub off a little top speed with this much toe in, the amount of speed that you can carry though the corners far outweighs the speed that is scrubbed off. After running countless laps with 2 to 2 1/2 toe in, and then increasing the toe in to 3 or 4, the lap times actually did increase. He even showed me a difference when he ran a 5 toe in.I finally settled for about 3 toe-in, and this seems to work the best. Believe me, I thought the same thing. You just have to experiment, and use what works best for your driving, and the track that you run on.

This I must try, how is the rear tyre wear running 4 toe? I have tried 3.5 and I get passed on the straights like as if I was standing still(exagerated a bit )I am now doing 2.5 most of the time depending on which track I run.

On my cars, the toe in did not lose enough top speed as to where I felt that other cars where running away from me on the straights. But on the other hand, I can run all over them in the corners. At the end of the long back straight, there is a long sweeping curve, that I go very deep into, and most of the time hold full throttle all the way through the sweeps. I have seen this friend of mine hold full throttle from the back straight, through the sweeps and just slightly left off the throttle going into the inside straight.
He is an amazing driver, and has helped me condiserably. He has probably forgot more about driving and set-ups than I will ever know.
Tire wear at this track is great. The track is very smooth, and has very high bite. I can usually start with a new set of tires, and practice on Sat, use these tires for qualifiying for Sun. and then run the mains on the same set, and use these same tires for practice the next weekend. We have been very fortunate to have such a high quality track to race on, but I still have a huge amount of tires for both cars.

Default Rear toe

Hi, When you say 4 rear toe is that 2 per side for 4 total? I have been running 1 1/2 per side and it's fast on the straights with very little tire wear.

No, it is 4 per side for a total of 8
I know it sounds extreme, but it makes a huge difference.
I found for my car, that 3 toe in <per side> works the best.
We have not had to worry about tire wear as a factor, because the track surface is so smooth, and has very high bite.
We usually plan on wearing out one new set of tires per practice, qualifying, and then the main. Very seldom do we have to use a different set of tires for the main due to tire wear. But at the end of the day on Sunday, then these tires are normally used only for practice after the main is run.

Default Rear toe

I went to my local track on a tuesday after the sunday races to try some different setups. Here is what i found. I increased the rear toe to 3 degrees per side and wow what a difference! The car was so much more stable on power it was great. I ran 35 shore rear and 32 shore fronts. I could get back to the throttle much sooner and the car was hooked up! I had the front upper arm position in the upper position and the steering was so smooth in transition from right to left. It is the first time i felt like i was punishing the engine from using so much power.

You must race at Joyce Park! That is an awesome track.

Default New 1/8 0n-road XR-8

Happy to see you tried the set-up I was trying to explain.
Rear toe-in of 3 works great for the XR-8.
It took my about 2 months of trial and error to get the car to handle the way it does now. Very seldom do I have to change much on the car from track to track.
Not to change to subject, but if anyone needs parts for the XR-80 and the XR-8, I have a HUGE supply of parts.
I bought all of Ae Hardwares inventory when they closed shop.
If you need anything, let me know.

thanks
