The XR8's rear lower arms are not adjustable to accomodate roll center changes, only the front is able to. Would adding shims to the bottom of the rear bulk do the trick ?

I recently purchased a used XR/8 and looking for a manual. Is it accessible online anywhere? It doesn't appear to be on the Power Racing site. Thanks.

brc358: Care to share your setup and building experience with the XR8? What are the area to look out or do to make the car better.

Default XR-8

Would be more than happy to share my set-up.
I worked on the car for a couple of months to get it here, but the car handles fantastic now. I also have the new 2005 Evolva, and the XR-8 handles very close to the Evolva.

Anyway, here ya go.

Front springs white Mugen, 80 weight oil
Rear spings red Mugen 65 weight oil
Front toe out .5 each side
Front camber 2.5
Front caster all clips in the rear
Rear toe 2.5 to 3 toe in <I run a lot of toe in for the corners>
Rear camber 2 to 3
Roll center stock
Front tire 68 mm 40 to 45 shore
Rear tire 74 to 75 mm <I usually run a 6mm split> 35 to 40 shore
Mugen clutch shoe
Hardened clutch bell <stock aluminum ones do split into>
Airtronics throttle servo 737
Airtronics steering servo 358
Rex 321P engine
Novarossi 9886 pipe
New Kyosho Dome body <more down force>
I also drilled the top of the rear shock mounting hole about 1/8 lower on the shock tower
Once I worked out this set-up, the only changes I ever make to the car are the tires<shore>. I may drop down to 35 rear and 40 front depending on the track condition . This set-up is really working good for me. I have let a couple other drivers at the track that run Kyosho, or Mugen cars, and they cant believe the way this one handles.
Give it a shot on your car, and please let me know how it does. I would be very interested in how your car works with this set-up on different tracks.

good luck brc

Default XR-8

I forgot a couple of items

Front ride height 4.5
Rear ride height 5.5
I run "0" droop
Front sway bar set at 90 degrees
Rear sway bar removed <due to high traction bite at the track>.
I think this covers it all now.

brc358, I notived your gurney flap is rather high up, doenst that create too much drag?

your XR8 dont run droop? the track must be very flat and smooth.

The track I run on is extremly flat, very smooth, and high traction.
With this "Dome" body there is much more front down force than with my Protoform bodies. On my other bodies the Gurney flaps are approx. 1/8 to 3/16 of an inch high. This car did have a lot of push until I changed the set-up and started using this body. I have around 7 or 8 different bodies that are mounted differently, and the Gurney flaps set at different heights. I have tried quite a few different set-ups,and bodies and finally came up with this combination that works really well.

Thanks brc, if I were to set this up with the protoform shell I'll need wheelie bars at the rear

our loal tracks looks smooth but it's not and with chicanes and tight bends requires different setup all together.

Super noob question: Does anybody ever race 1/8th cars with regular sedan bodies anymore? All I see is can-am type bodies that don't really tickle my fancy appearance wise.

I think about as close as your are going to get to a sedan body would be the stock body that comes with the XR-80 RTR, or you might even try the body from Ofna for their new 1/7th scale car.
But as far as a 1/8 sedan body, I have yet to see one.
