Default PRP XR-8

Let me know how the new set -up works.
I have my dialed in great now, and if you need, I can send you my set-up.
My car hangs with the Mugens,Serpents,Kyoshos.
I am running the new OS version 2, 21, but now I think I will either change over to the Novarossi 35+21, or the new Rex 321P
I have the Rex 321P in my Kyosho 2005 Evolva, and the engine screams.
It does have more power than the OS 21, and with the XR-8 dialed in now, the car will handle the added power

good luck

How to post pix? there must be an add attachment button somewhere, it's on the same page.Hope that helps.

Was wondering what steering servo's are you guys using. I am on the VX 13kg's and thought it could be an overkill, the VX's saps power from the Rx batteries.
I'm going to be doing that. The order has just been made.

I'm running Futaba 9451 upfront, and 3305 on the back. Works well with me. They are pretty good on batteries also.

Picked-up new body from the painter yesterday, and not very happy with it.
Guess this one will be a practice body.
The new Kyosho "Dome" body is supposed to have more front down force.
Will take it to the track tomorrow, and give it a try

Tried to get the information for you, but the owners manual does not call out the size. You can call PRP direct, and they can help you.
The number is 408 988-1188.
They have been very helpful with me.

I just got the xr8. It has the dreaded aluminum clutch bell. I tried to put the mugen one on it but the gears don't line up. Will the gears line up if i use a serpent one and will the prp gears fit serpent bells. Thanks for any help.

Use the XR-8 gears on the aluminum clutch bell.
Keep checking the aluminum bell, as the do go bad. I know of several aluminum clutch bells that have gone bad. Mine actually slip in right in half. They also make a hardened clutch bell that is much stronger

The alum clutch bell is excellent in opperation but lacks durabillity. Just go ahead and use it, it will last for a while. As mentioned, PRP makes a steel one. I think the Serpent will work too, I will check later and let you know (I have both lying around).

I have been plaqued by this problem of the XR8 wanting to pull to the left side on a random occasion. Prior to this problem I broke both rear CVDs and was running on front wheel drive for a few minutes. I didnt want to stop in the middle of the mains so I continued on till I can no longer drive the xr8.

Was thinking could it be the front one way bearing been busted due to the fwd action? on power at random the car sill pull to the left sharply and at times it behaved as usual. Anyone with experience to identify a one way bearing fault?

I have checked the rest of the components on the car and couldnt find anything out of spec.

Sounds like your front bearings could be binding up.
Also, the XR-8 just like the Serpents,Evolvas, and Mugens, need to have the front bearings, and the one way lubed on occassion. I have found the best oil for this is the Serpent one way bearing oil.
I use this oil on the rear one way on the rear shaft also, to stop the one way from slipping, and not being able to engage.
I am sure you know how, but you need to remove the front bearing, clean them, and then lube them, and while you are at it, clean and lube the front one way.
If your set-up is off from side to side <track width> the car will pull also.

Thanks

Front bearings checked , cleaned and lubed with Serpent one way pinky oil, rear track width 265mm even on both sides too. anti-roll equal length and height, what else could be the cause..........

Chassis checked for tweek but none was found, Spektrum Pro re binded just in case. Wheels not warped but slightly chunked.

Will give it a go this weekend and if it still persist then I give up and will go for the MRX next

I think I would then check your belts for slippage, and check you pullies for chipped teeth. Mine did this when I first bought it new, and the front pullie had about two or three teeth missing, and would only pull once in a while.
I changed it over to the Delta aluminum pullie, and have not had to worry about it.
I worked on my car for about 3 months fine tuning it, and getting to where it acts like it is on rails. The only problem I am having now, is I need to keep the rear one-way oiled, or it will slip. I spoke to PRP about this, and the Mugen MRX4 with work if I deceide to change over.
I took out the OS version two 21, and installed a Rex 321P a couple of days ago, and this thing is so much faster, it is unbeliveable.
The cars do have a couple of little quirks about them, and once you get them fiqured out, and know what to expect, they really can be very competitive.

good luck, and let us know how things work out.
