Well, due to the rain out during the first 8th scale heat, in theory, we'll do make-ups this Sunday. During the mayhem, my fuel presure lead came off the tank, and the engine leaned out (didn't overheat to my supprise), and it was signifacantly quicker. I may be able to get even more speed out of this thing...Can't Wait!

Yes, it's a nice car, however, the assembly of the RTR had several flaws. The body, rear droop adjustments, springs, caster, camber, 2-speed, you name it, all wrong. It was thrown together. Mine was among the 1st to get here, the wing wasn't even mounted on the body.(it was crap) The later shipment that I've seen have all had wings installed, and the bodies were fitted better. Not sure but it looks like they're working out the bugs. It's a good handling car, I'm very impressed with it.(my 1st 8th scale car) You just can't beat the price. It even comes with a starter.(the leads on wich are reversed, or they accidently put the wrong colors on each) The engine is doing well so far, no flame outs. It's breaking in nicely, getting a little quicker each run. I'm already on my 3rd set of fronts, and 2nd set of rear tires.(25 shore rear, 35 shore front) The rear spool is initially confusing if you don't know what to expect. It turns in harder on throttle, so to rotate the car, you hit the gas. We run on what is a great sized 10th scale track, so it feels small with these cars. It's also rather tight/technical, so the balistic speeds these things will go, don't quite happen in a small space. Overall, I like the car, can't wait till the next race.

We run 35's here as well. Perhaps they equiped the XR80 with sorfter tires to hook-up better on un-prepaired surfaces. It being a RTR means most owners will bash rather than race.

My XR8 is done! Went together quite well & finished product is excellent! Only a couple of issues; clutch nut internal threads were a bit goofed up (took a bit of work to get the threads cleaned up enough to get my flywheel installed). Supplied set-up sheet is terrible. I would like to have a completed setting sheet with tire diameters toe settings, oil, springs, etc.
That aside, I like many of the features better than my Evolva! I hope it drives as well.
Time to get packed for Ohio! Will find out, tomorrow, how well it works.

I always start with as sticky a tire as I can get. Then, I start tuning, unless it proves unwaranted.(bad push, way loose, it depends) When it was cold I would run 35F and 30R on my pro-4. I would've done the same with my R40, but it just eats rears, so I usually end up running 35R and 40F. The tires that came with the XR80 are very soft, softer than the 25 shore I bought...we didn't know they got that soft

I wore out the stock fronts in about 3 races worth of driving. When I put new Jaco 35s on the front, it got way loose. So I replaced the rears(25 shore), BINGO!, it hooked up. I'm still experimenting with the suspension settings, ect...

THere was supposed to be an Evolva there on that last raceday, but he didn't make it. It was the same evolva we compared to the XR80. Like I said, very few differences...

I always like running a lil softer shore in the rear. Makes the car hook up better under acceleration and turning.

Same here, although, recently, as the track temps rise, I've actually switched to running 35s all the way around on my Pro-4. My pit partner actually runs the opposite, softer up front.(NTC3, and a TC4). He also runs harder shore as well, generally everything over 40. Sometimes he'd run 30mm in the front, and 35mm in the rear. He can't be too wrong, he's one of the best drivers out there, very consistant. If it weren't for my "taking chances kung fu style" I'd never get by him...
