As for the shock pistons, the shafts are stainless steel. I'm not sure what Serpent uses. I set the pistons up so they would not be too tight on the shaft, but they weren't sloppy either. I guess it's kind of hard to quantify. Maybe tighten it snugly, then back it off 1/16th of a turn. Most shocks that just use e-clips for the pistons have a little bit of give, so I assume that's what works with these too.

Hope that answers some of the issues.

We just got the receiver packs in, it's a 5-cell AAA flat pack, part #YC026, retail price $22.00. I made my own originally before they came in stock. Not sure who else's fits.

Since it's the first run of cars, we're still sorting out the issues like the servo saver. Oddly, it comes with a .21 air filter...ah well. Mysteries like that keep things fun.

Thanks,

-Cameron

Thanks for the info.

My shock shafts do not look like stainless steel. I put several large (deep) scratches in them and then used a razor knife to smooth them back out. Not good. I will know better next time.

I have a 950R battery pack coming. I'm pretty sure it will work.

Yeah, it comes with an air filter, 2 servo savers, 2 mid-shaft gears, etc... mysterious indeed

I'm not going to race 8th scale onroad anytime soon, but I'm feelin that XR8 at happytime hobby's webpage. Then again, might as well get the kit with the good stuff from the start.

Why doesn't this car have a brace on the flywheel side? Will a Serpent, Mugen, Kyosho brace work? I would feel better if it had one. The screw holes are there.

No one seems to agree on ackerman settings right now, so go with what you think is best. After the Winternats, we'll know more.

Josh is using the short wheelbase setting at Revelation, it's a fairly small track with a 220ft. straightaway. You have to get some shims to put behind the shocks and sway bar mount when you move the arms back. Having the short wheelbase setting also keeps the front dogbones straight, instead of angled forward.

I wish I knew why there was no brace. I know there are plans in the works for a carbon fiber one to be an upgrade.

3, I believe. Keving Jellich, Josh Alton & Cameron Wagner.

I built my XR8 this last weekend. It went together great. If the weather cooperates, I will be running it for the first time this coming weekend.

Me to. I just have to finish breaking the engine in on the bench, install the clutch, put it in the car, do the linkage and I should be done. I hope to drive it Sunday.
