Default Centax-1 & Centax-2

I recently acquired a Veteq 2002, which uses a Centax-1 clutch (albeit with the newer screw-on gears). I would like to use a Centax-2 clutch as I like the larger bearings and different clutch shoes. It seems that the pinion gears are the same from one clutch to the other.

My concern is with the transmission spur gears... they are still original gears that are used before the new LC-II gearbox.

Can anyone tell me for certain whether or not I can use the Centax-2 clutch with the original transmission gears (pre LC-II) ?

Glenn, the gear pitch is the same, but the spacing between gears (1-2) is different between the new style 2-speed and the older original one. You would need to change out the 2-speed shaft and use the newer transmission to use the new Centax II.

John is right, you're going to have to get the new 2 speed and shaft if you want to use the Centax II.

Default Centax-2 and LC-II tranny

Hmmmm... I already have the new tranny in my 835, so all I would need would be the 901611 layshaft it seems...

I wonder if the benefits of using the beefier Centax-2 are worth the trouble of changing anything... opinions?

I'm still running my Veteq 02.
I haven't switched to the new gear box yet.
