Installation Question Re NTC3 Backing Plate for Non Pull Start
Hi all,
I am converting my .12 AE to non pull start. I have a question regarding the installation of the non pull start backplate.
The diagram I am looking at shows the non pull start backplate going into the engine the same way as the pull start backplate did. Which means the oval part of the backplate with the indentation on top (same shape as the pull start back plate) goes inside the engine. However, if it is installed this way, the end of the backplate hits against the connecting rod. Am I doing something wrong here? It looks to me like the only way it can go is with the protrusion on the backplate installed toward the outside of the engine. Or maybe it doesn't matter anyway as long as it is a good seal?
If you want to see the diagram I am looking at it is here on page 4:

Thanks!

Hey Nitrodude, thanks again! That was easy as pie and I'm already done - worked like a charm.
I was a little nervous having not taken one apart before that I would screw it up, but I just followed the steps you gave me and there is nothing to it!
Thanks for taking the time to help me out.
