RS4 Pride

So who all here still races there HPI RS4/2 or Racer 2? I think they are great cars and a great starting point for people first getting into Nitro RC because they are simple to learn yet need a little skill.

I just bought a used stock RS4 off of ebay for $200. It was ran only an hour and was completly stock. After $500 of hopups and upgrades this is what its turned into... (See pic below)

I am currently waiting on a Novak AM 27mhz Receiver, HPI .12R SC Motor and a Porsche 911 GT1 body. If anyone wants a list of hopups I've added just ask!

nice, but what's the point... it still is rs4 with cheap suspension... and won't drive like any pro class car... for 700$ oh my goodness.. you can buy serpent with a really good engine...

Vmax 08-06-2004 07:13 AM

I think his point is that he has pride in his RS4 (See title of thread).

J Smith 08-06-2004 08:09 AM

The car doesn't have bad suspension... I've added Composite Threaded Shocks...

Its more like "Sport" suspension and the car itself its like a Sport Racer.

SG_Racer 08-06-2004 08:54 AM

It's nice seems like its out of the box, I used to race one of those, but with 700 in hand I agree with Exe you could have go for a pro car!

anyway nice car and hope you enjoy it, thats what important!

It was $500, not $700. I got the .12R SC Motor for $77 new in box off of ebay.

I still have a Racer 2 and a RS4-2 in my stable. My son uses the Racer2 to race novice nitro. He even won his last race. The RS4-2 is still box stock. I had it reserved to run in the HPI challenge, but no challenge in the Western US this year. I have heard from reliable sources that there will be a local HPI race later this year. Guess its not yet time for ebay.

Nice,
I got myself a used RS4 2 from a buddy who both himself a serpent. I pay $100 Canadian (so $50 US  )
I runs great!
Got myself a two speed, fiber brake disc, front belt tensioner, and a high performence clutch.
Since I have installed the clutch, there is a sound coming from the spring rubing on the clutch bell. (can't get rid of it!)

I've just ordered adjustable purple shock's for it (not sure if they are any good).
I'll actually looking for the side belt tensioner.
Please comment!

$200 car + $500 hopups = $700.

Anyways, It's a good car and can still be raced competitvely in parking lot tracks with the right set-up. A local racer used to beat MTX-2's and Impulses every time a couple of years ago. The only drawbacks of this car is durability and reliability. You need to spend $$$ for upgrades and spare parts because stuff wears out and breaks easily and thats where the money could be better spent on a current "PRO" nitro tourer which are more durable and reliable and doesn't need upgrades.

Sounds like a great setup. I bought the Composite Adjustable Shocks, I think they are really good. They are itxactly what the Pro 4 uses, except that the Pro 4's shocks have alloy casings instead of composite.

I got my Side Belt Tensioner from this guy... It comes with all bearings needed and E-Clips to mount it.

OK, so it is $700 I am just shy err affraid to admit I put that much ca$h into this car, but I love it. Its not a Pro Racer, but its like "Sport" Racer.

I was actually thinking about getting a NTC3. But right now I think I want to get a Pro 4. It just looks like an outstanding and promising car!

I know what you mean buy how much its costs to get everything up to par with the "Pro" cars, maybe have this car I'll get a STS or something?

LOL I was too busy racing my first RS4 2 those 2 years ago!

:D

I get my .12R SC Motor in Monday and I'll be finally be able to race it after over 2 weeks from when I got the car. I'll be sure to take some more pictures of the completed car and post the pics here.

Also, I just did my first Dying Process with RiT Dye on a Novak AM XXL Casing and it came out fantastic!!! Its totally black now and matches the car. If anyone wants to know how to dye plastic just ask. Its extremely easy on my first time doing it!!!

:o

I bought a Novak XXL Receiver and ended up dying it. It came out great, here's some pics of it. Its perfectly black, it only took 15 minutes to dye.
