Run what your local shop supports or run which ever kit that your preferred shop (local or online) supports.

In some cases, the local shops may have nothing more than a bunch of RTR trucks from Traxxas or HPI so for specialized stuff like 1/8th nitro you'll need to go online. Pick an online dealer that provides good customer support and delivery with which you are comfortable with.

Also go with major brands that have current designs. There are some off brands (mostly on Ebay) that are knock-offs of older 1/8 designs.

Looks wise, the best car I've seen and had looks wise is a Slide. Man that car was pretty.
But like others said, see what most people are driving because you'll get a lot of local support.
If you want to be a pioneer, don't forget, Xray is coming out with teh RX8.

Do you have a pic of the slide?

I don't think anything can beat the new Motonica on looks

You needed to have a higher degree in mechanical engineering to get it to work properly. Definately way too technilogically advanced.
You need a degree in mechanical engineering just to assemble!

Thanks guys for your posts!

Just finished re-building my Serpent 960 after two years of collecting dust so thought I'd ask the question being as though the worlds are just around the corner and there are some nice chassis on the market.

Damn, I love the look of the new p81rs. Is the chassis orange? It looks like it from the pictures. The new Mugen also looks great.

Seems that parts back up is a huge factor into determining what chassis is best for a lot of people and in the right hands any of the could win.

I remember when these came out! Looks great.

I was gonna convert my 960 to brushless but I just miss the smell of nitro. Also I dont think the electrics are capable yet. My 5s Losi is awsome with 30mins of run time but there is less traction/speed off road therefore less heat and load.

True the electrics are not there yet, my 966e cannot keep up with my nitro 966 (lap times). But it's more of an engineering challenge in converting the Veteq. It may end being the only electric Veteq!

I'm pretty sure I've seen a brushless Veteq on YouTube somewhere. Guess you are running 4s with the 966? I did think about getting one a while back and Maxamps even said they would make a custom set of lipo's for it but I thought it really needed to be 6s. I actually really like the look of Montonica's electron p81. It looks as if you could hang a 3s off each side.
