Nice engine for starters and clubracers, if you treat him well he can make a long living. They can be modified to a more competive racing engine but that will have its pice in lifetime.

For a couple more bucks you could get something of better quality and that you'd probably be more happy with

Cheers, do you have That RB motor ? Also is that a restricter in the carb one I can remove ? While I am asking questions, :D if I didn't want a turbo head could I fit a different head - is it a .12 ?
Cheers,
James

I don't own one personally but I've seen some here at the local club, great performance for the price. Yes thats a removable carb insert aka a venturi, and I'm not at all sure about the head button. Trust me you'll be better off running the turbo:nod:

If you need a high-performance engine, go for the Nova Flash Tuned, RB T10RC etc
For local racing or just plain having a good time, any engine is good

The RB T10 Junior is a fantastic engine, but don't expect it to be all powerful and mighty.
The STS engines are great for cheap engines, they shouldn't be underestimated.

If you do want a good engine that isn't too expensive, Id look into these ones:
RB T9/T10 Juniors
Novarossi NS12 (or something like that)
Picco Evo 4 (heaps of torque)
The STS lineup you speak of
OS 12TZ/XZ
GRP Tuned/Non-tuned engines (very fuel efficient)

I can personally speak about the Picco. They make lots of torque, they're easy to break-in, they're easy to start and their plugs last for a long time between changes. I had a JL Evo3 which I ran three gallons through with a new rod at each gallon that still makes plenty of power and has no loss of compression.

The Picco Evo4 is even better because it makes even more torque than the Evo3. I've ran almost 3 gallons without needing a rod change like the Evo3. For just $30 more than the STS, you can get a Picco Evo4 Edo also available through RC Mushroom.
