got into the build sunday,so far it went okay, the only issue was the spacer plate under the center diff ,i dont know what metal it is made of but it is hard as hell, had to open the holes the screws go through just a little bit and i wiped out a file, carbide dremel bit and a drill bit but i finally got it!!!! aside from that this is a sweet kit!!! im going with the novarossi exhaust, should have that and the motonica wheels and tires next week. does anyone know which lipo receiver pack i can use? there are several sizes and i want to order the right one, thanks

just printed out the tip sheets on the p81rs build, they will definately be helpful,i canceled the nova exhaust and went with the BP set up instead. i hope to get some more build time in this weekend but this is no build to rush on and it is still too cold to run here on long island....

Maybe Brad T can chime in on the battery question, I use nimh batteries, mainly the Motonica battery. Duratrax also makes a nimh battery in case you can't get the Moto battery, which is currently out of stock. I'll locate the part number on that battery and post it here.

I use the life rx pack, I had too many issues with voltage regulators when I used lipos in the past. I got the one pictured from horizon hobbies. It is 1100 mah, but seems to make 1 hr mains with no problems but I always peak charge it bright before the main.

I am running 1300 mAh Lipo with High Volt servos.

There are plenty of LiPo's that will fit, 75 x 35 x 15 mm is what you're looking for.

Btw, if you are looking for a regulator that works, check the Xceed.

It's not cheap, but very reliable and small

unfortunately yes, however most of the newer chargers that have a lipo function also have a life function. You need to be able to change the voltage per cell to 3.3v instead of 3.7v like the lipo.

any idea of an upgrade kit for the 81, i am really looking for one.
i do not want to have too many versions say in 4 years time since P8, P8R and the brand new 81(never run). I just want to upgrade it to RS.

No news on an upgrade kit yet. The P81, P81Pro, and P81RS are essentially the same car. Everything is compatible from one to another, and in the case of the RS the only parts that really change the setup or handling are the shock towers and radio tray (with front bulkheads).

I don't know the actual rating of the springs but the stock springs are the motonica 'white' springs.
