With the costs of fuel going up, noise restrictions every where we look, tracks closing down due to operating costs, if the on-road is to sustain itself, it will most likely have to conform to what is acceptable. Electric would be able to run indoor tracks, less complaints from noise, costs. These are only a few of the factors. I would hate to think we would loose nitro on-road altogether, but I really think its only a matter of time.
To me the sound of the engines, smell of the nitro fumes, working on clutches, pit stops, this is all a part of racing. These would be no longer part of racing if electric did start to take over 1/8th scale on-road
Thanks Bill and sent you a PM on motors did you get it ? and man Bill you just made me feel sad.

Here are my two conversions of a Kyosho Evolva...05 and M3. I've been working on this project for about 2 years now. Track testing has taken place at RAMS and the car handles beautifully, is every bit as fast or faster than the nitros (quicker from turn to turn and much smoother power delivery) and soooo much easier to maintain. Guys, I understand the beauty of the sound and smell of nitros, but I also appreciate spending less time tuning clutches and motors and more track time...it's PLUG AND PLAY!! Also, for some, the sound of what sounds like a JET AIRPLANE screaming past is kinda neat also!

And here is some video of the car on the track...can't hear it because of the other nitros!

Go to the link in my previous post. I think that will show you a lot. I have a designed setup that I can now reproduce easily for a motor mount utilizing the stock motor mount holes in the chassis as well as a new CF top plate and chassis brace/top plate support with belt tensioner. The conversion is really easy to make and can be put together in under 2 hours. There are only 2 holes that need to be made in the chassis to accomodate the position of the new chassis brace. The rest is putting the pieces on the car and some soldering. Then it's off to the races!

As for electronics, I prefer the Tekin RX8/T8 system. I'm still testing which is the best combination of motor kv, gearing and battery voltage in order to produce the longest run times and lowest motor heat. I'll be at RAMS again on 10/24 for some more testing of these factors.

There isn't one available for the Mugens that I have seen. I just sold a new MRX4X because of this. Pete has done the most development by far on conversions, the videos are impressive. If I can find an Evolva at the right price I will PM Pete!

The cars could be slowed down for more runtime, but as I get older a 6 or 7 minute sprint race might be a lot of fun with almost no maintenance between rounds. I have a GT converted to brushless, it's stupid fast. I blow it off when done and put it on the self.
