Default durability

You haven't mentioned the Sportwerks "Mayhem"! Very durable, inexpensive and already pre-built. What more could you ask? Oops sorry.... I was thinking off-road. Mugen would be the choice for on-road. Durable and parts availability very good. Also fairly inexpensive.

Default 1/8 scale more durable?

In my opinion the the top three 1/8 scale cars have just about reached parody in that area, because if you hit the boards at 75 - 80 miles an hour you going to break alot of parts regardless of which car you have. Regardless what any car manufactor says no car is invincible.

1/8 on road is not called "F1 of R/C racing" for nothing. These cars go too fast and they will break due to high speeds. I'd go to your LHS and see what parts they carry. I've heard Mugen provide lots of parts out there. Serpent is hard to come by unless your LHS is a Serpent dealer. HPI Proceed is old so parts are scarce but I heard another company has lots of hop ups for it. Yokomo doesn't have a 1/8 on roader but I think you're talking about the Kyosho Evolva. I got a Serpent 950 second hand with enough parts to make another car. Yes you can mail order the parts to 950R specs which I'm planning to do later. Beware you're going to have to do some drilling to upgrade.
