I have seen the Proceed run in videos, and seen Mugens run at the track.

The mugens have everything closer to the ground, they have better stability and they can enter a corner at higher speed. I personally don't have an 1/8 scale but if the same guy drives 2 cars he will most likely get faster times with the mugen. We are talking about same radio, same servos, same engines. And of course both cars stock.

Again, HPI PROCEED is (still is) a great 1/8th scale racer....ask TED HAMMER (with Delta)........how many 950R or MRX3 trying to pass him but all they can see is his rear tires...?
However...........average joe like me (and most of the ppl) should consider MRX3 or 950R over the Proceed.....they are for sure more UPDATED RC car compare to the Proceed (4-5 years old already)...........and since those are the most popular 1/8th chassis, when you have question, a lot of ppl here can answer those question within hours......and they can give you the latest support and settings that you need for the track.

Again, it is NOT those car are WAY BETTER then proceed...but for average ppl, the newer the car, and should be better.....IMHO.

Yes, HPI proceed is a good car. Ted is faster on the track because his setup and drving are way better, that's why I said use the same driver and you will get different results.

We even had a race at our race track where an mtx3 with an OS motor won the race, and that was because of the fuel economy and because it didn't flame out.

same thing with the driver.

Wait for the new Losi 1/8th scale I haven't heard anything or seen any thing and I don't think they are even making one but when they do it will be awsome!!!
I Don't understand ppl who spout off on stuff they haven't driven, seen or is even made yet.

I own 2 Proceeds and it still is a very competitive car. That being said I bought them because it was a good deal and came with enough parts and tires for me to run it for years! For me our local hobby stores don't support any 1/8 scale on-road so it's all mail order. Delta inc. still supports the proceed even though they have thier own car now. Even tower hobbies carries parts for it so check out what car you can get parts and support for that should be what is the deciding factor.

I wouldn't just look at these two cars though: the Evolva, 950r, SMP Slide and Delta's new car the XP4 all deserve some research!

Have fun! 1/8 scale is the most fun I've ever had with an R/C car!my .02
