2 speed gear combinations
Hi All
I'm pretty new to forum, but have been reading a lot here. I bought my self a Motonica P81 and I'm busy getting it ready for my first time out with it - I'm pretty new to 1/8th on road racing. Our Local track is very tight and I'm looking to get a "shorter" gear ratio. How do I determine which spur and pinion combinations to use for first and second and still have a good mesh on the gears? For example - I don't think I can can increase the amount of teeth on the spur for first by 3 teeth and expect the second gear spur and pinion still to mesh properly - or am I wrong? They are all the same size so any of them will work. Any combination of first gears will work with any combination of second gears.

On short tracks you can start with the standard gearbox gears and go down to 16/19 pinion or even 15/19

Thus, if I understand correctly I can leave my spur gears as and chop and change my pinions how I feel like?

Unless things have changed recently, module gearing maintains a constant diameter, what has caught me out is the diameter split in mm between the two gears (both pinion and spur) diameters, hence I couldnt use a mugen clutch on a team magic.
