Default Possible rule changes?

Moving away from the rules on rain etc, but staying on the theme of rules and regs, did anyone else read the RedRC stuff about possible changes to 8th scale class?.

I think the two primary ideas said likely to happen, were changes to the body shells, lowering the wing heights with a new global body spec, and a drop to 16% nitro.

Both were said to be key in reducing corner speeds, bringing down tyre wear, and increasing run times, with a concern also being the ongoing effort to reduce noise levels.

Interesting?, no?, I found the concept of some pitting in the 3min range kind of crazy, but then I'm not personally running 8th yet.

It's getting a little boring listening to this tire stuff. If you weren't there stop assuming things and posting things about US Drivers. If you look at the time sheets of ALL the top drivers in the MAINS..... you will see that the lap times were all pretty close.

Raj,

I can understand why you are getting bored, but i am not. Us drivers won the preworld, and was very quick at that race and alot of very good drivers was presented there. Suddenly the WC comes along, tireadditivs being a HUGE discussion, and even one fo the best american drivers suggested that getting it in to all drivers was not a problem...

Yes, i was not there but from my point of veiw, there is to many strange things happening at once to over look it.

The reports by then were telling the certain smell of tire additives.....

Regarding rain (tires). I do believe the Worlds must go on with the lower finals:

Quote:
The lower finals up to the 1/4 finals will not be interrupted due to a wet track or
rain.
2 In the event of rain during the 1/4 finals, if 50% of the race has been run
before the rain, the race is declared. If rain falls before 50% of the race has
been run, the results will be kept from the moment of stopping which will be
the previous lap when the leading car crosses the finishing line. The new start
will be given for the time which remains to complete the final. The two results
will be added to give the final and definite placing. If the second start cannot
be given for any reason, the results from the first part will be used as the final
and definite placing.
3 In the semi-finals, if 75% of the race has been run before rain commences, the
race is declared. If rain falls in the first 25% of the race, a total re-run will take
place. If rain falls between the 25% and 75% mark, the total of the two (2)
combined legs will be added together.
So it seems to me as a driver you still have to be prepaired for rain situations. The funny thing is that the privateers (lower finalists) must drive in the rain and the sponsored drivers (higher finalists) can be saved from driving in the rain while for them it is more easy to get the better raintires and throw away the in the rain used equipment.

US Drivers won the Pre-world??

You sure about that??

http://www.redrc.net/2010/12/rick-vr...th-pre-worlds/

According to that Report... Rick V won the Pre-worlds...

The fastest US driver was Paolo who came in third. And Paolo was very fast in his main, but had to stop due to a broken plug.

Just let's imagine the following hypothetical scenario:

The European and Japanese racers would have been right at the pace until saucegate and afterwards they'd fallen down the time sheets.

You think you would be bored then?

Or do you think they would have been ripped to pieces in here?

I think you guys shouldn't be so touchy on the subject. It's a legitimate train of thought.

Mike was very fast but broke. He won his first main with times that matched the top a main guys but lost the clutch in the next one. No reason to think of sauce there.

Paolo was BLISTERING fast, dropped a plug. What does sauce have to do with that?

Burch crashed.

Josh was just a couple tenths off the pace all week. Before and after saucegate, he was slow.

I agree!!! Their going to help kill 8scale. This is a class that has done pretty good with rules and stuff until now. All this is a black eye for a great class!!!

Too may rules kills everything. They need to leave it alone. For the first time since I've been on Rctech that I wanted a thread to be locked.

Just a note to all the guys, the race went on. 99% of the guys there had fun! There were some issues but thing worked out and the racing went on. Let it die, it worked for the guys there and that's what matters.

99% ?????

If some teams were ready to withdraw I do not think 99% had fun and had fun the whole week. I do think there is a hard job for the IFMAR and all blocks (and maybe factories) to work on this what has happened. If nothing will be done the whole discussion will repeat itself again and again.....
