""The whole idea of the GBS is that we want to avoid bodies that are not bodies anymore, but an aerodynamic
construction only made for speed. Corner speed has gone up too far in combination with engines that can
barely run 4 minutes on 125cc of fuel. Although we cannot stop the technical evolution an IFMAR 1/8th Circuit World Championship is still a test of driver’s skill.""

Bodies that are not Bodies anymore LOL

Really whats it need to look like? a 1970s race car? because I have NEVER seen a car that looks like a 1/8th scale car.

Make it look like a REAL modern day race car, or let them look like RC race cars....

I found it laughable at best. must be working with the FIA

In order for a body based off a current race car to work the bottom of the chassis will have to be sealed in order to work. Current race cars make downforce with the underside of the car and our r/c cars are a ways away from doing that so far. If we are only going to make downforce with the top side of the car and look like a real race car they are going to have to copy race cars that ran the tracks before I was born. I say lets let form follow function. 1/8 scale has been about going faster and faster for a long time now or since the pan car got left behind.

True, I showed a few friends that have never raced RC anything the bodies, they said oh cool GTP cars. Or oh cool some kind of lemans car.

not once did they say....oh the wing looks HUGE or the side dams are to tall.

I am all for body rules but the way it reads the NERF stick is on its way, anyone have any 97 Lola bodys on hand so i can get used to that kind of down force?

So does that mean the original Protoform P909 is legal, providing it's not mounted above the 160mm limit?

Yep, when using lower H-arms for the rear body mount most bodies will fit (my P909 on older MRX4 H-arms does)

occ: Yes, this latest ruling will allow the *Protoform P909 bodies to be legal for the WORLDS - provided that they are able to be mounted @ 160mm or less on your particular chassis. (*the original bodies and the ones pulled more recently with slightly lower sides & center fin added)

The Protoform R15B (that Robert Pietsch used to TQ at the Pre-WORLDS) is also 100% legal.

Quote from IFMAR:
• We only look at the height 160mm and 170mm with Gurney strip on a 10mm spacer. The side dam
part will be taken out of the rules, which means that all bodies on the list will be valid
• We put a remark to the body list that these bodies are only allowed if they respect the height as
mentioned in the rules.
• The shape and size of the Gurney strip is defined and will be put into the rules with a drawing to avoid
that drivers will try to get more down force by using a strip which has a different angle as 90 degrees, or
a longer part and try to compensate the height reduction this way.

My question is??? No side dam height but the spoiler part of the body must be 160mm with a 10mm block and the spoiler itself cannot be higher than 170mm....

I think the rule is no part of the body will be over 160mm high on 10mm blocks excluding gurney strip and the gurney strip not over 170mm

Hi Dale,

Are the new version P909 bodies (with the centre fin) available now? I'm having trouble finding them.
