Hmm I may have to try that yellow shoe...and I thought it was the softest type of shoe? Ah well.

In my opinion, the red and yellow are very close in grip, but the yellow lasts longer. But remember, the best grip is not always the best setup...too much grip will not give you the snap out of the corners. The engine may even bog if you have too much grip. It all depends on the track conditions.

EXAMPLE: At the LVGP, I got my clutch poppin (thanks Harry) and then the track conditions got a little slick. I had no traction comin off the corners...had to ride the drift. I wadded the car. If I would have had more grip on my clutch (heavier clutch), the engine would have engaged earlier, at less RPMs and I may not have been so loose coming of the corners.

I got ya. So far I like the stock grey show. Just need a 16T pinion for more pick up around the track.

I'm having a problem with the tank on my MRX4-R kit i'm building. The tank doesn't line up with the holes on the upper deck. This is really weird. Can someone help?

Please give me a call at Mugen USA. Some of the MRX4-R kits were sent with MRX-3 tanks. Call me and I will get the right tank sent out to you.

Also, Kyosho has a tool for the pinion gears on the evolva that works very well for measuring clutch end play. This tool works very well on the Mugen. I dont know if the side of the tool to remove/install gears will work, but the feeler gauge area works nice.

Default problems

Can anyone help me with 2 problems with the MRX4 and the engine.

I have a novarossi RX21R1WCS engine.
the engine is one race old. I'm sure I didn't over heat it. It was running
at 190 degree and the plug is still in good shape. but it died twice on the track. It was running rich for the most time, and it would suddenly become
lean and picked up speed. and twice the engine died when that happen.

I took the engine off the car after the race and I can feel not a lot of pinch
anymore. There is still compression, but I can turn the flywheel with my whole hand without too much affort when the plug is screwed in. Is this normal?

2nd problem is with handling... Do you have to use one-way? My car is very unstable under braking. I lock the rear wheel pretty easily even tho I was being very careful with the brake. I was using the stock tires. If I have to use the oneway, how can I add more braking power but not locking it up?
Thanks!!

Maybe some dirt came in the engine?, and left some scratches, with the result of loosing compression.... and that might also be the reason of the engine leaning itself.......

If you don't use the 1-way, it will not help you with breaking, instead you also loose a lot of traction "on power"......
You can "lock" the 1 way, but in general this is only done in rain conditions....

The solution is give your car even less break power, by setting it on your remote, or change the servo-breaking linkage .....

Thanks,

How do you prevent dirt from getting inside the engine. Isn't the fuel
tank has a fuel filter already?

I presume you also have an airfilter?....
This might be the problem, if it is damaged.....

I use these ones:
http://www.mytsn.com/products/product.asp?prid=675
with an INS box:
http://www.mytsn.com/products/desc.asp?prid=677

I never use my filters for longer then 3 races + 3 training days.............

Anyone jumped to the new MRX4 R hubs? I personally been running the MRX4 for quite some time now (practicing skills) and truthfully have never worn the front belt or middle belt. The only belt that got destroyed was the rear belt and spool due to a rock lodging in there. I may just purchase the old hubs and or try the new ones if they are the same price.
