i would not recommend using lipo with no regulator, 7.4v is too much..
Go for a life battery which is 6.6 V and all people use it without a regulator.

If after all want to use lipo, go for Xceed micro regulator, its too small...

Btw, if someone here says to you that he has tried using a lipo without
a regulator in a KO, will you trust him and take the risk for your
expensive receiver and servos? i wouldnt...

Yo Phil whats up? Does your charger do Li-Fe packs? If it does thats the way to go. I wouldnt trust those electronics for a long term use with a lipo. Dont 4get they always fail down the straight!!

Im coming to Floyd this Sunday, I can bring a li-fe pack that i use for you to see if it fits OK?

Whats up Phil
I run a LiFe on my NT1 and they are great , you donīt need a regulator because they are 6.6V
The stock battery tray didn't work well, so I made my own custom tray from piece of aluminum.

Phil:

Everyone is right about the life pack. I believe some of the KO Servos can handle the 7.4v without a regulator but not the futaba stuff. As for the life 6.6 would be the best route and no regulator. I use lipo only in my radio and starter box and good ole, NIMH in my rec pack. Having a charger that charges 1s-6s is key also, but your an electric guy so i'm sure you have that covered already.

Keep in mind if you lighten up the bottom of that chassis with one of those lipo style rec packs your going to want to put the weight back in with a weighted batt tray! If you try to run the car with that much weight removed from the center of the car your not going to be happy with the handling at all the car will be very unsettled and very unpredictable all the time!

Hey Taurean what's up? I never got a chance to tell how good your car looked the last time we raced . Send me a p.m so I can give you my number. I wanted to run a few things by you in referance to racing. By the way you should try the life packs they are very safe and reliable. If you need more information on the life packs contact me via p.m.

I use a Novak regulator when I run a Lipo not so much to protect the servoes and receiver but because it has a low voltage cut off. This is important because if you allow the lipo to discharge too far it will not recharge. If you try to recharge a lipo that has experienced over discharge it will swell up and it could catch on fire.

The Novak regulator is very reasonably priced and works great with the Serpent Xceed lipo.
