for the FIRST TEST i only did a BASIC paint job. I have only one night to prepare the body. i actually got a few hours to do the external masking, window masking, body cutting, hole punching, painting, drying and installing the rear wing.

as you can see on this body i only intend to have 2 holes on the 'nose' and two holes at both side windows. No holes for REFUELING becoz i am expecting the NEXT BODY from HELLION will include REFUELLING VALVE (this is my personal thought and never asked him about this).

The test i am about to do (the next day) is ONLY regarding the effect of the holes to the cooling of the engine as discussed earlier in this THREAD.

I dont want to TOUCH anything reagrding handling of the car using this body because i am not an expert to tell that. Although i can feel differences when using HELLION's and PROTOFORM stratus.

For this paint job, i am using TAMIYA CAN PAINTS becoz i dont have any airbrush.

Default BODY PROFILE BETWEEN HELLION and PROTOFORM

next images showing the profile of the bodies.

i use SAME type of CAR.
They are NTC3 (becoz i have 2 of them).

1st car equipped with PROTOFORM STRATUS 2.1
2nd car equipped with HELLION BODIES STRATUS

this picture showing the PROFILE DIFFERENT BETWEEN HELLION's and PROTOFORM (in dotted).

what i did is i use my 2 TAMIYA CANs put it in exact location and i didnt change the position and place the body in between those cans and take the picture from the SAME SPOT. Thus i will have the EXACT PRINT between the 2 bodies and use photoshop to trace the profile of each body and put them together to see the different in SIDE ELEVATION.

this picture showing the PROFILE DIFFERENT BETWEEN PROTOFORM and HELLION's (in dotted).

as you can see from the both of the pictures, HELLION's body have a lower height and also a smaller windows but have a higher HOOD. Also he has a bit smaller rear wing compared to protoform. I dont know whether this is the real rear wing that he will include in his production body. need to confirm to him. you will see the rear wing size difference more clearly in the TOP VIEW in the next post.

Hellion's body also have a shorter lenght compared to protoform but he put his rear wing WAY BACK so all-in-all the lenght of the 2 bodies is about the same. Hellion's FRONT LIPS and hood is shorter than protoform. as i told earlier, his front lips more likely to be like NASCAR style front lips which helps to divert the wind more efficiently.

Default ENGINE TEMP TEST

it was a good day last SUNDAY. sunny and bright and strong wind. the temp and whether is very stable no suddent change occured.

This is the PROCEDURE for the test i am using. (it is self impossed rule based on logical estimation).

1) Run the car without ANY BODY. Run it at low RPM for 1 FULL TANK to bring up the engine to working TEMP.

2) After finish the 1st TANK let the engine cool down and RUN it again without any body installed. But this time i blast the engine to the max with a lot of WOT until the fuel finished. The temp gauge reads 73.9 celcius (165.02 farenheit). I use VENOM temp monitor.

That box I sent you the bodies in looks like they just threw it off the plane! LOL Did they get damaged? I like your dotted line pics! Did you have a chance to test them? They are selling here faster then I can make them! My mom fell ill so that put me a little behind but I'll get them out to you all as soon as I can! The elec.touring guys talked me into doing a car (190mm) for them Here's a rough draft

Default ENGINE TEMP TEST (cont)

3) after the engine cooled down. Another FULL TANK run with HELLION STRATUS BODY installed. the engine temp reads 93.8 celcius (200.84 farenheit).

Just to remind you, i only have those 2 holes at the 'nose' and both side windows cut out. NO REFUELLING HOLES on the windshield and also no HOLE on the REAR windshield and also i didnt cut the rear bumper up high as hellion did on most of his outlaw body.

Default engine temp test (cont.)

4) let the engine cool down again. another run with FULL TANK WOT. with PROTOFORM SRATUS BODY installed. with full HOLES for engine cooling - front (50mm diameter) rear (70mm diameter).

the engine temp is 96.7 celcius (206.06 farenheit) !!!!

what a wonder!!!!!

i dont know how to explain this 'miracle'. only HELLION can explain this. i just take the pictures of the engine temp on the VENOM temp monitor...

speechless....

Default the bodies used in the TEST

the picture shows the 2 bodies used in the test.

PROTOFORM STRATUS 2.1

HELLION STRATUS

you can see all the holes on the bodies. also the profile different between the 2 of them especially this view can see the SIDE of the body profile. which hellion's body is more 'squarish' not really that square but i dont know how to say it.... i hope you understand.
