I tried it, has good points and bad points, but I prefered the FW05 set up for handling, it's a bit more relaxing to drive hard as you only fight understeer where as the ZT1 would loose the rear for no apparent reason.
FW05 with RRR front hubs is the way to go.

hi al.
nimo, i tend to agree with you,
if you guys can get the new parts for the car,,it will help with the understeering, and yes do use the RRR front and rear hubs..

RRR hub conversion is less than $15.

Wrong.
It gives more steering angle (smaller turning radius) for the same amount of servo through, and the good bit is....you dont loose any of the rear end grip.

Pictures show mid conversion of front end, left - FW05 hub, Rigt - RRR hub.

Nigel I think from the way your drive cups broke something must have been snatching in your drive train. My ZT has impeccable manners and goes like the clappers.
Will be run at the Oz Nats this week, I'll report back on the results. At least I won't be looking for bigger pinions.
I'm hoping to get away with 40 shore tyres, everyone else will be on 42-45 to reduce traction roll.
I'm thinking that the slight overdrive with the Kawahara crown wheel and pinion will also be a small advantage.
Personally I'm impressed that Kawahara have taken one look at the FW and made this conversion, speaks heaps about the way he feels about the car.

I also like the fact that I have more pipes available.

Nothing was catching, I think it is because i still run 4 wheel braking the extra whip effect on the shaft is too much for the Kawahara cups causing them to shatter, I will look for a stronger item that fits as the Kawahara Diff rings still look like new after 8 meetings and practice days, (that's a good 10 hours of running)

As you can see on my car, left side NovaRossi pipe fits ok on right side.

I was thinking of using the drive cups off the FW04 and making a spacer to suit the two speed end.
You should try to run the one way if you're going to foamies, I can out brake most two diff cars.

If anyone wants a ZT-1 that has been run once let me know . I will probably get rid of it for 4 bills with a pipe. Please send any Q's or responses to [email protected]
