My CD3 also spins out all the time, but its runnung a gear diff in front. In LD3 form with the front one way it was great, but all the locals with other brands of cars run gear diffs so when I did my conversion I ran the gear diff instead of buying a one way. Car has 6 gear diffs front and rear, both with 120,000wt oil. Any ideas on the spinning out?

Default Set up Sheets

Anybody have any good base line settings for the CD3? I'll be getting mine this month (already stocking up on tires) but have no clue on a good setting for it.

Greg M - I have only run a one-way but from my buggy days you have to run a lot thinner oil in the rear - maybe the diff/diff guys can help

spenzalii - I kinda treat mine like the LD3 - the only real problem I had was being really unstable on RH corners - After race day when I looked found when I screw pivot ball washer in the front hub I must of pinched it cause it came loose and camber was floating from like -2 to +4

If you go back in this thread there are a few setups..

Greg, check the diffs to see if they're binding up. My rear diff wasn't shimmed right (I suppose) and would bind up from time to time, causing a spin out of the corner if I even looked at the throttle.

what I've found is the screws for the rear diff case have stripped and so the diff has emptied itself of oil. With no oil its pretty much locked. Wish I had of found this earlier, such a simple problem.

Thanks for the help guys

Nice work Detective Spenzalii

Greg, if you can - get some good quality machine screws (M2 x 6), that's what I'm using.

I try, I try

I only know because my diff did teh exact same thing last season. Very annoying. I just bought a new diff (only $20, couldn't pass it up) and will try to find some machine screws. Only catch is they're not the easiest thing to find...

Mine were toast. It was so annoying, because it was some-timy. Some corners it's fine. Others I'm doing a 180 into traffic. I did manage to find a spot selling 2x6 screws and will pick up a few for the upcoming build.

OK, now I need an engine. Any suggestions? And is the CD3 any quicker than the LD3? I remember having to fight for some low end with the car, even running a 15/21 clutch bell.

Same car different layout. The better non-snail exhaust system should help with power though I asume (I am running Kyosho 5.2 exhaust but you have plenty of options)

RE: engines, I like the STS Dragon engines
Or maybe -
RD/Richey Racing Engine (STS makes engine but I believe to Motormans specs - something like that)

Default Saw those

They were the next choice. Someone had a X12 for $200, but jacked the price up a bit too soon for me, so that was out

You weren't kidding about that sale. The price on these things is great. A D5R or D3R under $150? I wonder how they compare to the RDLogic version. At that price, I may just get one this month anyway
