Default nitro sedan with lipo receiver pack

not sure if this is the appropriate thread to post this. but here it is. i'm wanting to use a protek rc 7.4 2 cell lipo pack for my mugen mtx4 ride with a futaba fast receiver . my question is: has anyone used a lipo in their nitro sedans? if so is there anything extra to purchase or wire to the receiver beings the voltage is higher?

You need a voltage regulator w/ a voltage cut-off. I think Novak makes one.

Does the receiver for the Spektrum DX3R need a regulator for a LiPo pack?

I just purchase some LiFe for my NT1 and they are great , you donīt need a regulator because they are 6.6V
The stock battery tray didn't work well . so I made my own custom try from piece of aluminum
