I agree with you on that 1, I did the same with my IGT when they 1st came out I wanted to swap out that stock motor for a nicely modded 21 buggy motor, so I had to try all sorts of clutch combos. Since you're running the serpent transmission, try the centex type clutch. I used 1 and I also used another kyosho clutch bell but don't remember the part # but I still have it in my parts snap case. I can take a pic of it this weekend when I get off the road if you'd like, but you're gonna have to remind me through pm.

Thumbs up

Awesome project Raman...

Wish Tamiya USA/Japan also came out with their own GT/GT2 car. I know when you first started your project, you looked at the TRF801Xt kit to start with but the wheelbase was 10+ mm longer than the Kyosho GT2 car. Hopefully your project will inspire the Twin Stars to come out with their own, based on their 1/8th scale platform.

Keep us posted.

Nice job on the replica Raman! All we have to do now is find a great track in SoCal to run it.

Reemo, I ended up going Brushless, so that's no longer an issue. My custom radio plate is a bit too long and pinion will come into contact with it. Initially tried shimming the motor back but it adds flex. No biggie, plenty of room on the chassis to move the receiver.

JR, if Kyosho ends up adding some new bodies that are 360mm, like a Porsche, I'll have a custom chassis made up. For the time being I'll settle on my stubby Ferrari.

The Twin star is busy re-releasing some vintage kits.. hopefully they will take a break and do some GT cars. Aside from them, I'm surprise HPI hasn't taken an interest.

Jayson: I'm envious of those guys in Florida.. sounds like they have a track at every corner.. ours just keep disappearing.

Default I'm slow...lol

I noticed that after I read deeper into the thread, I'm doing the same thing with an inferno gt. If you plan on keeping it 2spd you can try the RC monster pinion holder or the one from fine design. The RC Monster pinion holder is shorter which gives you more room to move it back/forward but the Fine Design is light weight.

Which pinion holder are you planning on using?

I shelved the 2 speed for the time being. A friend is going to assist me in machining a custom centre drive shaft.

Default pinion pic

notice the pinion holder on my car, its short so it give you more positioning options, I don't have a pic of the Fine Design option on my computer but I can take one if you really want to see what it looks like.
