Stay with the nimh on starter box, even with the 12v cell. They'll last longer and you need to know the cutoff. Lipo and cutoff voltage is important. Go too low you damage the lipos. 12v cell and Nimh you run them till it dies and recharge and hour. Lipos could take longer to charge, even though it charges 1.4v per cell.

That my opinion on the subject. It's up to you though!! $$$ for lipo +lipo charger, or NiMh you have right now. Just purchase on cheap pack that carries 4200mah at least. It last me a month with constant used while racing, on weekends.

ACORN RACING makes a starter box lipo. The are rugged and can handle any r/c car, plus they are like a life battery and can handle the abuse without a lipo cut off.

We run 2 4300 Lipo's (Tamiya style) in our Hudy starbox, no problems at all. You need to be carefull with new engines... and charge after a long weekend.

This LiPo...
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=9264

A bit of velcro on bottom of my bump box and the battery, soldered on some deans, and it's all very sweet.

It's all just so easy, and works well, any generic 4S 20C or so LiPo will do really, 2000ish to 3000ish, or go for broke if you want with something that will last ages.

The 3000 will last ages, even with lots of starts etc it should do several race meets, I checked mine after one meet and the drain was minimal, so it's not like you need to charge it all the time, or even check it constantly.

For how light weight it makes you box, it's worth it, and cheap, some places now sell a "starter box lipo", but it's nothing special for a lot more money.

Ive got the mugan box with 45 turn novack rock crawler motors using a losi 4 cell 2200mAh battery. This will be my third season working great. It will go four races before a charge is needed. I have used it to do two engine break-ins with no problem turning over new blocks off a single charge. Very light weight.

That is one of the advantages of the lower mah losi lipo is that it weighs less than the bigger mah lipos.
