Default OS .18tz or Traxxas 3.3?

which of these two is stronger? My friend has the 3.3 but i hope i have somthing in store for him with the TZ! I was more confident until i found out the 3.3 is .2 cu. in.

thanks all

a properly tuned 3.3 (nice lean and dam near 300 degrees)is just as strong as an 18tz, actually stronger on the top end by far, only problem is you get about 1/2-1 gallon of race time after break-in before the bearings die. If you wanna play the bearing game every other weekend(ebay case/bearings is like 10 bux) I would use the 3.3 if you dont wanna play the game use the 18TZ btw the factory guys run 3.3's in the revos..........to do a 18tz in a revo the right way and use the factory clutch/flywheel/clutchbell and not have to hack the crank is to put a 18TM crank in the tz....... its a bolt-in then. BTDT bought the t-shirt a few times......

The .18tz have an SG shaft which isn't the same shaft that the TRX 3.3 has. Some people take out the .18tz shaft and put the .18TM shaft so they can use their stock flywheel, clutch, and clutch bell. You get an Ofna shim kit and that will work also.

I agree 100% that a poperly modified/tuned 3.3 will run faster than a .18 TZ will. I have both and they are equally modded by RBmods.net and the 3.3 walks the walk over my .18 TZ. I also had ceramic bearings put in the 3.3 since bearing failures are a problem with the stock ones. I have a small video of my 3.3 in an OFNA CD3 here.

The 3.3 is a throw away engine. By no means is the 3.3 better then the TZ. One guy said he got his 3.3 modded by RB. Did you get his piston and rod with the mod? I have had one 3.3 and three TZ's. The TZ is by far the strongest small block on the market. They are about the same down low but the tz has way more USEABLE rpm. Just keep this in mind. A 3.3 has to be modded and ceramic bearings must be installed. that's just to run with a stock tz.

You do not have to mod the crank to fit the TZ on the Revo. If you do that means ur chassis is bent. All you need is the proper flywheel set up.

3.3 out runs a TZ??? the TZ must be running rich and geared for bottom end. and if the 3.3 does happen to win under those circumstances itll prolly take a dump after the race cuz we all know how lean the 3.3 like to run. factory guys run 3.3's because thats what their sponsored to do so thats a no brainer. you dont see anyone buying a 3.3 to put on ANY other chassis besides a traxxas one. and if they do theyll be sadly disappointed.

RB Mods isnt a true 3.3.....its a 3.3 case w/his fabricated parts in it

4tec is a piece of crap, IMO. youll never see one on the track. its a parking lot basher.......1:1 cars beware of the barrell rolling rc in the lot AKA the 4tec

ok who would mod 3.3,imo is waste of money.most of traxxas products are geares high mainly for bashing.99.5% of the people dont race a 4tech, l maybe wrong, most tc3 owners with a 18tz start bashing then head to the track to race ...18tz has consistant pwerband where the 3.3 don't ..just my opinion

You would be surprised. Traxxas has a loyal following. Idk why any one would get a traxxas engine modded. A 3.3 is not in the same league as the TZ. In order to get the 3.3 to come close you have to replace all moving parts with after market parts and then the port and polish.
