RS4 Engine Advice

Hello Everybody!

I have a old HPI RS4 Evo and I need to get a new engine for it. The old engine was very unreliable and tuning it was a pain. I just want to get a new engine that is reliable. I don't care if it has low power I just want something that will last a while. I do not want to spend over $150 on it. Anny suggestions?

Great little motor, I had one about 10 years ago on my RS4. and my girlfriend's RS4-2 currently has one. Claimed output was about .67 hp, super easy to tune and not too tempermental. It has plenty of power for a parking lot racer. It was a great club-level motor. At that time novarossi had a .12 side-exhaust that made 1hp.

im not sure how much the power the HPI 3.0 makes, but its probably more power than the .15 CV if that bothers you at all.

What kind of speed could you get up to?

If I get this engine can I use the flywheel/clutch bell from the old engine? Will I need to get any special engine mounts?

You could use the same flywheel and clutch but why not upgrade. You will need engine mounts get HPI #86045 For clutch you will need HPI #A925 and clutch #87191. It is a pull start so u will need to schim down the upper deck some. Good luck

The clutch you listed #87191, does that go in the transmission or does it replace the clutch shoes.

Never mind I looked at a few picture and I understand now. Thanks for the info everyone I am probably going to get the O.S. .18 CV-RX because it has more power than the .12. Thank you for the help everyone!
