If you have local parts support, get whatever is easiest to find parts. If parts availability is equal, or you don't care, then I would get the cars in the following order:

Kyosho
Mugen
Xray

I am assuming you are new so I put the Xray last because I think it is the most fragile. I think the Kyosho and the Mugen are more durable and at that point I think the Kyosho handles a bit better and the transmission is more reliable. All the cars work well and if you want to mail order parts, all are available.

For a radio, find a used Spektrum DX3S or DX3R. For servos, use the Team Orion servos, or use the Futaba digitals. For engines there are lots of good choices.

I didn't mention it because it wasn't one of the choices he asked about. He also asked about servos, radios and engines. Try reading the original question.

Here is a link to one of the cars you actually asked about.

The xray nt1 is by far the best car in terms of fit and finish and parts quality. I had a vone rrr evo 2 wc last year perfomance wise it is had beat but the parts on the nt1 are alot stronger than the ones on the vonerrr with mugen mtx4 comeing in second after the nt1. I had a mtx4 r 2 years ago so I speak of of experience. My serpent kit that I had last year was missing pArts and thf fuel tanks were no good and you have to modify pArts to get them to fit flush on the 966 and 733 that I had last year so as you can see I am not a fan boy I test most products that hit the market. Xray products are the best made products you can buy on the market but they do come at a price you get what you pay for.

I agree, however lets keep in mind that he is probably new and therefore he will be breaking stuff left and right (even if the parts are stronger, they will break). So if money is not an issue, then xray is a great car, but if he wants an excellent car that will run with the best, then RRR Shimo is the best for the buck.

Thats a great deal, and one of the best engines on the market.

As far modifiyng parts to fit on the Serpent kits, thats rubish. I didnt have to mod any parts and non of my kits were missing anything, and I got my 733 from the first batch. They did have a problem with the tank, but that has been fixed, I also heard that with the new kits you get an extra set of suspension parts in the box at no charge.

As far as the other stuff:

http://www.kamikazercracing.com/prod...?prod=FUTM0552
Thats what I run on all my cars.

http://www.kamikazercracing.com/prod...?prod=JRZ4800S
Thats also a good choice.

http://www.kamikazercracing.com/prod...p?prod=KO80190
Thats a very good servo, not top of the line but the price is good.

I have a Futaba 3PK for radio.

Its all personal preference. i have ran all three cars and liked all three however the xray is by far in my oppinion the best car out of the three you listed its plenty durable and a really all around good car. as for motors i would suggest murnan modified m3 again this is just my oppinion

ugglasdav 03-15-2010 12:48 PM

if i were you i would go with the shepherd velox v10 as i have heard very good things about this car regarding quality and and how easy it is to maintain. but you could also go with a serpent 733 which is a very good car. i have had the problem myself with the fuel tank but that has been fixed, but other than that the car is very good quality.
