+1 on raw footage without the music....this is not MTV, is nitro racing, hearing nitro engine screaming is what we want.

Good job..

Default Music is a pain

I really don't like using music. Its a pain to get something that the majority likes. Many times I've put up a really good vid with music people didn't get into and the whole thing sits with noone watching it. When I started I didn't use any music then people started bugging me to add music. No matter what I do there is always going to be a group of people that don't like it. I've done a few full length race vids. My camera has 4 channel sound so I can include a clean announcer track as well. Most of the tracks in this area have FM for transmitting the race director to the masses. I hook up a walkman FM to the back two channels of my cam and then I have two audio tracks. In addition you can use the clean announcer audio to get rid of all announcer sound in the ambient ( Car sounds ). The add back the clean announcer track at the appropriate volume.

It is hard to shoot an hour main. Usually I try and rest for 5 or so minutes in the middle of the race so I can save up some tape in case it goes a little long. One tape is 63 min so you have to save some along the way or you'll be sorry. My legs start giving up at 30 minutes or so and start shaking so I have to get something to lean on to be successful. Fortunately there were plenty of pic nic tables on the upper level of Gulf Coast so I had something. You can't really sit down and shoot with the rig I have. The support rod is very uncomfortable in that position. And you don't have enough freedom of movement at the waist so you can't follow the cars properly. Most of the time I go to a race and shoot a couple of tapes and don't try and do the mains. But for a big race such as this I'll tough it out. Sure sucks that I found out I had this talent so late in life. And when I'm all broken down. If I had more mobility there are lots of shots I can't do now that I could do. I try and make up for the lack of those shots with other stuff.

I'll separate out the clips from the two tapes today and get those put together tonight and tomorrow. It will take some time to sync up the two cams I used for the main. I'm rolling a little slow today so I doubt I'll have it finished before tomorrow afternoon. But it will be the full race no music probably 4 parts.

Griz,
Your background music is fine, don't mind those that complain, they can choose not to watch your video if they don't like the music, we appreciate your time in putting this video together.

Griz,

Don't let the complainers get to you, its not worth trying to please everyone. Also 25 minutes of a 1 hour main is more than plenty. Even Ray Woods who has a great setup and charges money for his DVD's doesn't give you one full hour of mains. His disc is over an hour but that includes qualifying highlights and driver interviews.

I'm sure your vid is great. I hope to watch it soon myself. Right now it looks to be down, maybe you are doing something with it at this time.

Steve

Griz11, do you think you'll be able to film the 1/8 worlds in Homestead fl next year? I'm pretty sure RAYWOOD retired.

Default Not sure

I'd love to do it but that is a long way from homebase. I'm retired on disability so I live frugally to say the least. I don't try and make money I just shoot as a hobby so getting to races that are a long way off and having to stay in motels is hard for me to swing. SSDI will allow you to work as much as you can private insurance won't. It sucks because if I had a backup I'd try and get back to working. At least part time. I hate sitting at home. Its like ok you are sick enough to be on disability so we are going to give it to you but strip your dignity in the process. Pm me with the details and I'll see what I can do. I haven't been to Fla in years. I race on vrc or used too a lot and those tracks in Fla are cool.

Default Yes I have all the A-main

I shot two 30 minute races on Sat and the whole A-Main on Sunday in addition to some practice sessions. I'm putting together the A-Main now. I've only done a long vid like this once before. It takes a lot more time than a 5 minute one. Just cleaning up the vid a bit. Cutting mistakes camera pointed at ground etc and editing in the other camera I used. I should have it all together tomorrow. Gotta get it done as I have another big race to go to this weekend. Same place other side of the lot
