best engine

Hey guys
Im looking for an awesome engine for my NTC3. It has to be ROAR legal. what your thoughts and the best engine?

mckrooz 03-18-2004 07:18 AM

The best 3 port out right now is probably the Novarossi NS3. I've seen the RB V12 and I'm not too impressed.

novarossi NS12S3

Seems strange all the V12s I have seen and heard reports of have been very good. What did you not like?

As for "best" motor there is no best one out there, it depends on your track size, weather conditions and many other things.

Here is a list:

1. Economical and good motor - STS D3
2. All round good but pricey - NS12 S3
3. Good short track motor - RR12 L3
4. Dang expensive and very good - JP NS12 S3 or JP X12

When I saw it, it just came out. To me, it didn't look any different than the RS12S3. You could tell it was running out of revs at the end of the straight. But then again, we have a loooong straight. The NS3 doesn't seem to have that problem. Maybe it's just me:confused:

OK that is what I expected to hear. You are right the RB does lack RPM compared to the NS12 S3 for sure, the transfer port height is quite different amongst other differences. The RB however has a rock stable idle quality and holds its tune with weather changes better along with a nice big fat midrange. This is why I was saying there is no "best" engine, depends very much on the track.

LOL Taylor I think your motor "treatment" (destruction, vandalisation?) might have had something to do with it :)

I've been researching and it seems that the NS12S3 is the choice if you want to join sanctioned races. Though, which is better, the standard or the turbo version ?

Skoob 03-23-2004 08:12 PM

how do the O.S. .12 TR's line up against these engines?
