I'm sure the answer to this is yes but please tell me the asphalt is better than the Homestead parking lot we ran the nats on years ago? It was a great race and I had a lot of fun but that thing was the worlds biggest tire truer.

LOL I was there! And you are exactly right! One 5 min. run= one set of tires!
I am sure they have fixed it by now. From the pictures, it looks like a permenent track now. Back then, it was set up in the parking lot where they ran go karts.
Should be a great time!

Yeah, two people in my 20 minute main changed tires. I started with straight out of the pack, full sized tires and went the distance. I had 5 min of tire left so 25 was as far as I could have gone.

Default track

I'm sure someone else will confirm this but the track will be completely repaved before the worlds and will be much bigger

I do not think it will be repaved, just sealed and maintained. Although I could be wrong. I am sure more info will come out as time goes along.

Default Announcement from the ROAR Website

December 10, 2009

2011 IFMAR 1/8 I.C. On Road World Championship at Homestead RC Raceway

The International RC racing bloc for the North American continent, ROAR, is pleased to announce the selection of Homestead RC Raceway as the location for the 2011 IFMAR 1/8 I.C. On‐Road World Championship. The specific dates for this World Championship will be announced at a later time.
Homestead RC Raceway is located in Homestead, Florida on the grounds of the world famous Homestead Miami Speedway. This area provides easy connections for travelers flying or driving with Miami only being 30 minutes to the North. There are an abundance of motels, restaurants and sightseeing tourist activities nearby.
Of course the most important area is the race track. Homestead RC Raceway will have major renovations taking place shortly to insure that all of the facility will meet the racers demands. The race track will be extended to provide a longer racing line with a new driver’s stand that is higher, longer and able to accommodate up to 15 drivers.
Homestead RC Raceway looks forward to hosting this event and providing a great facility for all of those attending and ROAR is exceptionally excited about this announcement.

Yes please not in summer. The nats were there in December and except for one brief rain shower, the weather was beautiful.
