Default who thinks they should make 30mm slicks for the touring cars?

I think they should make 30 and 32mm slicks for rc cars nows it will last longer and you will get good stability in the rear.

i dont, you wont get the same amount of grip throughout the whole race as a foam tire would

yeah I know but for those who like running with slicks it will be nice. and it will last longer than the foams.

but anyways it was just an Idea and it won't hurt by making the rims and tires 4 to 6mm wider.

I personally think they should ban slick rubber tires from nitro racing. In general they are more expensive to sue now that foams can be bought for between $8 - $15. And the foams are lasting longer now also with less fuss about getting the right tire/insert combo to suit the conditions.

People complain about foams not working on anything other than special prepped surfaces. What I ask is how did we manage for many years to run 1:8th (both 2WD flat pan and 1:8th 4WD) on non-prepped car parks and concrete yards with foam tires before all the tracks started to spring up.

Just my 2c.

With todays high power engines I don't think a 30 mm rubber tire would last 5 minutes. Less grip+ more money+ less wear= less fun. That's just my opinion.

Go for it. I'm sure they can be made.

Many people still run rubber tires for nitro parking lot racing. There are many parking lot surfaces that do not work for foam tires. Thats where the rubber tires come in. As for durability, rubber holds up much better as long as you don't overheat them too much.

As far as the wider tires, there used to be 26mm and 30mm rubber available and even 22mm. The 24mm tires have proven to give the best pressure VS contact patch combination overall. The wider tires arn't even manufactured any more. Maybe the newer tire compounds would work in the wider tire. You might try writing to some tire mfgs and see if there are any available.

I think someone needs to come up with a rubber tire that has close to the same traction as foams, but would last a couple race days. Foam is very expensive if you look at the cost. 200mm will go thru a set of foams each race day thats 22 bucks if you order from overseas. Its 44 dollars if you buy them from a LHS.
