Hi Tabushi,

Are they going to run 2WD or 4wd cars in the
235 MM Class?

A local buddy of ours here is Southern California
will be flying out there to run for associated. I hope
he has a great time and showing as always..!

I believe IFMAR and ROAR have dropped the 2WD class and is only running 4WD 235mm classes.

Yes a few of us from Australia will be attending the World Championships in October. I won't be racing as I'm racing 8th scale now but will be mechanic for Craig Hawkins who will be running 235mm. I know of at least a couple of others from Australia who will be running both 200mm and 235mm.

Jwf-Ronni the 235mm class is now 4wd at all IFMAR events and has been for 12 months or so.

Che it's not just ROAR who have dropped the 235mm 2wd class most if not all of the blocks ROAR, FEMCA, EFRA and FAMAR are running 235mm 4wd now.

Also for those running 235mm you might want to have a look at the updated 235mm rules on the IFMAR web site IFMAR

A couple of changes to note are the new weight limit
"1975 grams/4.3540 lbs. including transponder"

Also that Turbo Plugs can now be used with the new rule reading
"Only glow plug ignition is permitted"

Where as before it mentioned Only glow plug ignition using standard 1/4-32 UNEF glow plugs is permitted.

So I imagine a lot of the 235mm drivers will be buying turbo buttons and plugs

Alastair,

Thanks for the info..
Now considering the changes, what would be the restrictions
on the motors be for the 4WD 235 MM car? Porting, etc?

Al,

Any idea of the selection process being used for eligibility for the worlds. (Within Australia)

Just curious as I have not seen any point scores for 12 months and nothing about invitations or how to apply.

I'm not able (or guess eligible) to compete but wonder if the 'proper' eligibility process has been bypassed due to AARCMCC's 'issues'.

Hi DC,

I would say the usual pointscore system of the previous two years results will have to be used if the numbers wanting to attend warrant it. I can't see this being an issue for 235mm but it could well be for 200mm.

I agree that the issues we saw at the Nats AGM make one wonder how they would be able to do this but I can't see any other way. I guess they will just have to sit down and figure out the current pointscore. It would be nice though if drivers knew where they stood. I would say that if you are interested in attending to contact David McInerny as he will be able to let you know exactly what procedure they are going to use.

Cheers Alastair
