Some guy was using them at the track today for practice, after about 5 minutes of running it filled up the whole arena (patio type thing) and never went away. It smells like cheap cough medicine or something, and gives you headaches.

A guy at my LHS once added some grape scent to a bottle of Byron's that I purchased. The smell of it was much better than just the fuel alone. Made it tolerable if you got a big wiff of it. I have no idea if its bad for the motor though.

We have used it for many years - it doesnt do any harm on the engines what so ever. Its the burning methanol and nitro that makes your head hurt, not the nitro scent. But just because the odor of the methanol and nitro is reduced (or gone completely) one could think that the fumes are not harmful - but they still are.

Great point !

It's like spraying a whole room with odourless insect spray and sitting in there cause you can't smell anything only to find that you are about to drop unconscious after 5 minutes of inhaling it.

Default fuel smells

Man, I think last year some-body put that in my fuel. Thats all I could smell was grapes. It made my motor run sh!ty, i had to retune after that heat. And it's a year later and i can still smell grape after cleaning the motor about 2 time. I think I was doing to good that day a the track. After retuning my motor it was fine but that smell stays around to long for me.

Tone- So it affected your motor (idling weird)???

So it seems that the smell lingers for a long time. I wounder why. I spilled a little fuel on my pants and the cherry smell was on me all day.

They have root beer too.

hah, I've never heard of anyone putting that in RC before. They've been doing it in alcohol burning dragsters for years...Ive smelled em' all. Try mixing grape with cotton candy

Sounds interesting, but maybe not the best thing to do.

Personally, I like getting a whiff of the nitro when I run my car, kinda just adds to the experience of running a nitro.

Like someone already mentioned though, people might think the fumes aren't toxic anymore since they don't smell bad, so people might be inhaling more of this stuff than they normally would, but I don't know.

On a side note, I've been told Cyanide gas smells like roasted almonds.

That's odd that this scent thing is so strong, I wonder if that scent stuff is just as toxic as the nitro fumes. Anybody have a link to this stuff?
