You know sometimes you are better off saving a little more to buy a little more expensive engine... have you considered a .12 engine? you can get a nice picco motor for less than $200

What are you going to be using the car for. Are you just going to run it out in front of your house or are you going to do some club racing? What is your budget for a motor?

You can go with the OS 18cvr or the OS 12tg series engines that many of their variants fall under the $150.00 range. OS engines are sturdy and reliable and easier to tune over some of the more race-directed powerplants. RD Logics makes a one-piece pipe/header that works for rear exhaust engines for right-side exhausts. I have an old Mugen X12 engine with the RD Logics pipe in my TG10 mk2.

I would run a good motor. Buy used isn't bad either as long as the motor is in good shape and hasn't been ran hard. Check your PM

Here is a link to the thread I started a while back:

http://www.rctech.net/forum/nitro-ro...10-mk-2-a.html

About two thirds down the first page of this thread, I posted three pics of my car. It had an OS 12tr in it at the time with the RD Logics pipe/header that I referred to in my previous post.

You are better off saving up for a more higher end engine. I ran the kit engine on my MK.2 Pro (FR12R) and had nowhere near the straightaway speed of the guys running a typical race motor.
The cheapest way I can think of getting a race motor is by hanging out in the pits on raceday and asking around if anyone has a used motor they're willing to part with. Just be wary of they guys who like to run lean or treat their gear like crap in general. A buddy of mine picked up a OS TZ this way for $50. Another got a Novarossi 12SCT for $150.

I got an RB matrix almost new for $100 an RB R3 with pipe for $130

You can find used race engines cheap! you just have to know how to check if they are in good or at least a good amount of life left!
