Default HPI RS4 evo+ 3.0 bad design

I love my car but the poor Rotostart design is getting on my nerved. They put the damn shock right in the way of the rotostart hole so everytime i want to start my car i gotta take the shock off. does anyone have an ideas on other ways to start the car?

maybe a startbox or pullstart?

Starterbox makes it more easy but you can take a look into a tigerdrive.

Really, what HPI needs to do with the car is go back to the belt design like it had in the Racer 2 and R40. The Evo is based off the original Nitro MT with a few updates but with a drivetrain that is not all that great and engine position that makes it difficult for using roto starts. They need to go back to the engine being transverse mounted in the car so that you can use rear-exhaust engines in which you can use the better exhaust pipes/header in the market (more left-handed than right-handed choices). Just my opinion (and I am a big HPI nitro fan).

The shaft design is less sensitive for dirt and rocks and that are the circumstances in which a RS4 is most used. If you want better why not choose a better car?

Maybe a different style roto-start design, like
the ones that "Tigerdrive" makes, would suit
that chassis set-up better. I seem to recall
they list one for that car.

Let us not forget that shaft driven cars usually require less maintenace than their belt drivien brotheren. If you are really having a hard time with the roto-start, then get yourself a used bumpbox off The Buy/Trade forum here or a eBay or Craiglist. Install a decent Lipo pack and you'll be good to go. Should you ever decide to upgrade to a better car, you won't have to worry about getting a bumpbox.

We are strongly thinking about starting a Spec Series at our local Race track for next season with this car, from what I have seen this looks to be a great car for beginners and a great stepping stine for moving up. I am very interested in your feedback and idea's so please inform me of this car both good and bad.

Are there any members here that have run this car in a race set up? does this car have potential? I see the complaints of the roto start but what about the rest of the car? I am very very interested to start a spec series for the 2010 season with this car so I am looking for the best overall feedback on the car.

Thanks
Sean

Stick the shaft at an angle to the hole....it doesn't have to be straight....I have been using it that way on the same car since winning the HPi Challenge in 2004....
