Re built the motor earlier. Everything seems fine ... it turns over perfectly fine now.

Its been doing that since I got it.

since its a piston thread, here goes.
normally how do u guys clean the piston side especially the rings groove?
the rings, what is the purpose?

Never clean the sidewall, maybe you can do it with WD40 which is an oil with a cleaning function but cleaning arround the rings with a more polishing cleaner means taking away material.

The rings act like a piston ring, it holds oil to spread over the wall of the cilinder and with holding oil it helps also to build up compression.
